R.I.P EBONY
Our beautiful boy, Ebony, has passed away, aged 7. He came to us as a 1 year old who had never been handled and was terrified of human touch. However, with a lot of understanding, love and patience, Ebony became one of P.A.W.S best loved Therapy Animals, often found curled up in someone’s lap when on an outreach Animal Assisted Intervention session to a care home or the like. He taught many young people about Guinea Pig care, anatomy, nutrition and behaviour during educational sessions. Ebony even made the last few months of a blind bunny rabbits life, full of love as they were pen mates and best buddies.
You will be missed little man, you have lived an extraordinary life and have touched so many hearts and formed many smiles.
We love you, now and always my friend xXx

This week a sadness sweeps through our sanctuary and our hearts, as we had to say farewell to our lovely lady, Daisy.
Daisy was put to breed, far to young, which traumatised her and effected her behaviour. Having no use for her, the breeders tried to give her away free on social media. P.A.W.S founder, Lora Steggles, contacted the breeder begging them to put a price for Daisy, as dog fighters seek out free and low cost small animals, to train their puppies on!! The breeder asked P.A.W.S to take on the traumatised bunny, which we did in October 2021. Through a care program of love, kindness and understanding, Daisy was rehabilitated from her trauma and became a huge part of daily live at the sanctuary site, always demanding attention in the cutest way possible, and melting hearts in a way only she could. Everyone at P.A.W.S has their own special bond with this amazing bun and a story of her sweetness to tell.
Daisy, you have changed so many peoples lives, by just being who you are, and who you are is an exceptional, gorgeous, beautiful bunny and soul.
Your P.A.W.S family miss you greatly and we will forever carry you close in our hearts and share stories of your life forever more.
Rest in peace our girl # #

Today, whilst at an Out Reach Animal Encounter Session, for a service vital to the wellbeing of women in our community , Storm Bunny proved that animals certainly know their own mind, and just because she has the opportunity to exercise, doesn’t mean she has to take that opportunity, especially when sunbathing is the alternative. She sat in the sun, lapping up the warm rays and warm cuddles from her girl pals instead…..happy times had by all
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO OUR LITTLE (big) BUNNY BABIES!
It is Gale, z Eunice, Breeze, Dudley, Franklin and Storm’s 1st birthday today xx
PLEASE RESEARCH AND THINK HARD BEFORE GETTING A RABBIT!! A year ago an underweight, malnourished, lethargic Giant French Lop came to P.A.W.S after being rescued from neglect from her original owner. She was 2kg below her minimum healthy weight and pregnant. We could feel all her bones when we stroked her. Now “Big Mama Willow” has a dewlap (the cushion like area under her chin) that would make most rabbits jealous, she is over her minimum healthy weight and has a healthy body score. She is a bundle of energy and loves her rabbit and human family, especially climbing all over the P.A.W.S team members for cuddles, snuggling up to her babies and undoing peoples shoe laces! She is cheeky and confident and when stroked, her bones no longer protrude her skin. We are very proud of our big girl. Goes to show what the right rabbit care, prioritised welfare, correct feeding and lots of love, time and enrichment can achieve.
Poor Gale, with her sister, Storm, laying on her head. Nearly time for their 1st birthday
