TODAY'S THE DAY; THE SUN IS SHINING, THE BOOTS ARE CLEAN.

Today, we welcome our pals from to Hilltops for what is always a good game.

Kick off is at 2.15pm - what better way to spend your Sunday afternoon? See you there?

A shout out to Mairead who was selected for the Norfolk team in their fixture against Cambridgeshire last night! It was a tight game with Cambridgeshire coming out on top, but the shift put in by Mairead made the whole of Lakenham Union so proud! 🤩
And of course she could hear the support from assistant coach Jess from the sidelines 📣

On Tuesday, we were thrilled to welcome to Hilltops for a training session.

After they absolutely smashed all the rugby drills we threw at them (which our admin typically forgot to take any photos of) it was time to try our hands at tug of war. Safe to say everything we thought we knew from watching Squid Game was a lie 😅🙈

Big thanks to the group for coming down. We had a fantastic night, and we're excited to see you all again soon!

What a game! certainly put us through our paces, offering up some brutal tackles and solid runs to take a 72-5 victory.

With lots to work on but plenty to be proud of (how about those scrums?!) the Lakenham ladies left the pitch with their heads up, and excited to develop further for our next game against Woodbridge in a few weeks time.

Forward of the match went to for being an absolute machine, and back of the match to Mairead for being a speedy little whippet who was just all over the pitch, and even put some cheeky points on the board for us.

We also had a debut player, with Ellie playing her first match in 8 years, and joint birthday cakes for and (what better way to spend your birthday?!). What a time to be alive.

WHAT A START TO THE NEW SEASON! 🏉🙌

After travelling the short distance to take on , the two teams dropped to 14 players a side in what was a well fought, very muggy match!

With some brand new faces on the lineup, Lakenham brought together everything we've been working on in pre season to come away with a 57-14 win.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who stepped foot on the pitch and can't possibly mention everyone's achievements. However, special mentions go to and Flo for their debut appearance for Lakenham (and what an appearance it was!) as well as the one and only for scoring not one, not two but THREE tries 🎉🎉🎉

Well done to all our teammates who ran 10km today! Here's a summary from the sidelines:
🔸We never saw Georgie again, she ran too fast for us to even spot her! 🏃🏼‍♀️💨 But she got her medal & free pint so we're sure she completed it.
🔸Emily smiled all the way round (or at least the sections where we saw her).
🔸Alexa gave us double thumbs up 👍👍 whenever we spotted her!
🔸Shout out for Trav for wearing a non-black top making her easy to spot, even if she didn't want to be spotted.
🔸Jenna longed for the applause, so we gave it to her as loud as we possibly could! 👏
🔸Rumour has it Sian & Sophie ran with their legs in complete unison for the whole 10km, we have photographic evidence of this.

Today, a few members of our team had a paddle through Norwich! With a few 'learning experiences' (scroll to see showing us how to fall with style) the ladies had a great time - thank you 🛶

Our 2024 Hilltops competition is halfway over - whilst one team has a strong lead, it's all to play for over the next few days!

Our teams have been running, swimming, cycling, walking, parkrunning, weightlifting, and much more to fight for the covered hilltops trophy. 🏆

A few people have asked whether they need to know about rugby to join Lakenham Union - and the answer is no! You can rock up having never played the game before and we'll be happy to show you everything we know.

Our pre-season sessions are beginner friendly, and we appreciate that nobody wants to be tackled straight away - that's why we encourage you to come along, have a go and join in with whatever you feel comfortable with. There's 0 pressure and the goal is to have a bit of fun.

All you need are some trainers that you don't mind getting a bit muddy, and a drink to hydrate! Training is every Tuesday at 7pm - 8.30pm (Norwich Sports Ground, NR14 8DU) and we have food and drinks in the clubhouse afterwards so you can ask any additional questions and get quizzed about what animals you might have.

For the fourth time, our annual Hilltops competition returns and we are HYPED!

Hilltops is a yearly Lakenham tradition where we all compete in different teams, and do exercise to earn points. It's a fantastic way to prepare for the season with some fitness incentive and in true Lakenham form, we all take it just a little too seriously 😅 apologies in advance to all WAGs and HABs, you'll see them in two weeks.

This year, we're going with the big cats theme. Competing for the crown will be Team Lion, Team Tiger and Team Panther ( favourite).

We'll be competing from today (2nd August) to the 16th August, so if you see us out and about at a parkrun or any other event, give us a wave!

Here are our points for this year. For anyone looking for a motivation boost, why not challenge yourself to see how many points you can get? If you do join in 'at home', be sure to tag us and let us know how it goes!

Well done to all our players who braved the torrential rain and played in the touch rugby tournament held at Crusaders Beer Festival 💪 🌧️🍻

We've got a busy pre-season lined up! With a mix of fitness, training and social events, now is a great time to join us and give rugby a go in Norwich ☺️ we welcome women aged 18+ of all abilities!

LURFC Pre-season training starts a week today on Tue 2nd July.

The training is open to all players, from seasoned veterans to those new to the game.

Make sure you are at Hilltops, changed and ready for 7pm.

Our head coach Jay O’Brien and his coaching team have some great sessions planned, so why not get along and blow those cobwebs away and get ready for the 24/25 season.
