SKIN CARE WHY BOTHER? Do you? Tell us below đŸ‘‡đŸ»

PART 2:

So you’ve removed ‘the day’ (make up, sunscreen, pollution, dirt, sweat) from your skin by cleansing & now you need to follow the basics of skin care which is replacing the moisture that gets lost while your skin is working hard for you all day.

Look for a hydrator that contains the barrier building blocks through ingredients like Hyaluronic acid, glycerine, squalene & polysaccharides. You’ll find these in our moisturiser ‘The Hydrator’

The last piece of the very ‘basic’ puzzle is to protect your skin from the damaging rays of UV that are present no matter the weather 365 days of the year & also “HEV” (High Energy Visible) light, often referred to as “blue light,” emitted by electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, computers, LED lights, and the sun.

As always though there is balance required here as some exposure to Blue light preferably from daylight, helps regulate our body’s sleep-wake cycle, improves our mood, keeps us alert and can even enhance memory.

A Daily application of a broad-spectrum sunscreen is a great first choice, given that the sun emits a large portion of blue light that sunscreen can protect from. You want one, though, that’s rated SPF 30 or greater and contains plenty of antioxidants. These ingredients help to defend and minimise the chain reaction of damage before it visibly impacts your skin.
The practice of skincare has ancient roots, with evidence dating back thousands of years across various cultures. The first records of skincare practices can be traced to ancient civilisations that valued beauty, hygiene, and medicinal treatments for the skin. So it clearly has some worth. If nothing else, in a world that is so full for so many, just taking a few minutes, twice a day to ‘care’ for your skin is a practice of mindfulness, love , support & nurturing for yourself & everyone deserves that

Or do you choose not to? Tell us in the comments below using In the meantime let Louise share her 27 years of skin care wisdom

‘As an Acne sufferer my advice doesn’t just come from a certified place of a skin health qualification but also from a true, empathetic understanding of what it feels like to be impacted by a skin issue. I have been there, despite my knowledge, with totally over treating my skin in panic! So when people say to me ‘skin care why bother? I don’t have any issues’, I get it!
I’m going to give you my guide to the ‘whys’ of skin care starting in today’s post

20 years ago a philosophy & formula for treating skin was born & our ‘Trinity symbol represents our 3D approach to nurturing the skin back to health.

This month we are going to break down the third & final element of this symbol; Holistic.

This term is often thought about when it comes to the delivery of treatments that focus on a more ‘natural’ or ‘alternative’ approach & whilst our facials always deliver on relaxation, massage & nurturing this wasn’t the main focus for Louise when developing the signature approach.

‘I turned to the literal translations of this word characterised by the belief that the parts of something are interconnected. It’s about the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of the skin condition. It’s not enough to just ask the basics that a skin consultation will suggest we have to take the time to listen & establish the lifestyle of that client & how that’s impacting their skin.’

Our 3 pillars to skin health; Science Nutrition Holistic.

We’ve been focusing on the first pillar of our philosophy, Science this month.

Our skin care products come from Louise’s 27 years of experience in the skin health & beauty industry & are the culmination of two decades of research. Louise worked closely with a UK based cosmetic chemist to bring to life her ideas for a results & efficacy driven solution to skin health whilst encompassing a sense of wellbeing & luxury.

‘I’m going to introduce to you the hydrating complex that I developed to ensure that all of our products support the delicate & vital, protective lipid barrier.

This barrier helps protect the skin by keeping water in and pollutants out. It helps protect your body from external stressors like pollution and UV radiation, retain water, which helps keep your skin hydrated & transports nutrients to your skin.

The barrier can be very easily compromised due to incorrect product use, changes in environment or internal factors such as diet & poor health. You will see & feel this by your skin feeling, tight, dry, sensitised, red &/or itchy.’

The three ingredients you need to reset & restore your barrier function found in our unique hydrating complex:

Glycerine - A humectant and moisturiser. It holds onto water and prevents transepidermal water loss. (dehydration - that tight feeling you can feel on your skin)

Sodium Hyaluronate - This is part of Hyaluronic acid BUT it has a much smaller molecular weight which means it can pe*****te the Epidermis and assist with hydrating the layer of skin below. It’s a humectant and acts like a moisture magnet.

A plant derived polysaccharide - A moisturising and skin soothing ingredient. It works by binding water to the epidermis and creating a moisture-binding film on the skin that gives a soft, smooth feeling. In addition to providing long lasting moisturisation, it also functions as an anti-irritant.

20 years ago a philosophy & formula for treating skin was born & our ‘Trinity symbol represents our 3D approach to nurturing the skin back to health.

The philosophy came from Louise having chronic Acne & having grown an extensive, advanced knowledge in the advanced Anatomy & physiology of the skin.

Practicing this 3D approach on herself she began to realise that it wasn’t just what she applied topically that would lead to the healing & improvement to skin disorders & overall skin health.

Our ‘trinity symbol’ evolved to show how these 3 pillars of Science, Nutrition & Holistic practices, illustrated by the three interlocking ovals with the dot in the middle representing you as the individual.

This month we are going to break down the first element of this symbol;Science. The Science of you & of your skin’s anatomy & physiology. How we can get your skin functioning better for itself & how we are led as a brand by Science in the ingredients we use in our skin care & the technology we use in our signature facial treatments, preferring to come from a place of evidence rather than marketing hype.

LOUISE’S PREDICTIONS PART 2:

Beaut-AI’ will transform the beauty industry by making it more personalised, efficient and effective, but governance and transparency will be critical to growth.

Louise says; ‘Whilst we are not resistant to change, as a skin health brand & provider of bespoke advice we struggle a bit with computer generated advice so will continue to deliver as much of a personalised approach as possible when it comes to our clients & customers needs.

Where I do see this being useful is by analysing social media trends, customer feedback and market research, AI will help brands identify emerging beauty preferences and eco-friendly options.’

‘Louise’s 2024 predictions’ ‘Neuro-Glow’ this mind-body connection will play a key role this year in terms of how mental wellbeing & physical appearance are interconnected. Louise says;

‘Our philosophy for treating the skin for the past 17 years has been to understand how addressing psychological factors such as stress, anxiety and mood through mindfulness, meditation and stress reduction practices can positively impact the appearance of skin and hair and enhance overall well-being.

This trend is set to be further acknowledged this year with the development of products that will emphasise this trend.

We have also recognised the need for bespoke advice & treatments something that the ‘Neuro-Glow’ trend speaks about.’
