Going to be a lovely weekend!
A month after the 2024 Festival Weekend is the perfect time to reflect on the wonderful people who contributed to making the weekend one of joy, sharing and creativity.
There were over 2640 visitors who met our wonderful artists, designers, makers, workshop leads, volunteers and hosts over 29 venues from homes through to public spaces and local businesses.
We are thrilled to share just some of the contributions made to the event, including:
😀Over 400 children and young people whose squares created the Children’s Gallery at Lady Bay School
😀Over 100 volunteer hours from 28 people over the weekend, and countless more gave their time to help set up and prepare Lady Bay for the event
😀The many discussions and making that told the story of our community on the Lady Bay Community Quilt and the associated shared stories.
A massive thank you to everyone involved.
The event couldn’t run without the support and generosity of our communities and we want to thank each one of you to helping make for a successful weekend.
Huge thanks goes to FHP Living for their sponsorship in providing the wonderful signage, sharing on social media and for their contribution to the Creativity Fund.
Just in case you missed it, we wanted to share the work of the youngest artists who exhibited at this year's Festival Weekend. Over 400 children from the local early years settings and Lady Bay Primary School contributed a square to the paper quilt that was on display in the school playground.
A special mention goes to the Year 3 children who produced some stunning artwork based on the work of contemporary artist Vinita Karim. They are currently working towards their Arts Award.

RACHEL MAHON.
Rachel Mahon creates beautiful, botanically inspired contemporary art prints, cards and homewares. With a career in surface pattern design and a passion for interiors and stationery, Rachel founded her own brand in 2019. All of Rachel’s designs are inspired by the plants grown in and around her home. Rachel loves exploring shape and representing nature with a carefully curated colour palette.

JADE ANN MILLIGAN. Illustrations
I create custom pieces which are unique to each individual. I have painted over 600 pets in my illustrative style. I have recently started creating custom caricatures, where facial expressions and characteristics are emphasised. I also make these personal by adding hobbies/loves/interests/pets into these caricatures. I use a combination of watercolour paint and ink to create these.

JACKIE WARD.
These wire armature sculptures were created when a neighbour left some fence wire out for the scrap man and I decided to work 3 dimensionally. I’m a materials led artist; wherever possible the found bits and pieces that I come across dictate what I make.
They are created using a combination of hand and machine stitch.

HELEN SHERE.
I am a self-taught jeweller, working in silver and gold, drawing inspiration from the urban textures and leafy details found in Nottingham and York. Metal stamps are used to ‘draw’ on the surface of the silver, creating illustrative pieces of jewellery full of detail and pattern. Oxidised black patinas and warm yellow 24ct gold details add colour and depth to the designs.

HANNAH SMITH.
Each collection of jewellery is concept based, enjoying the narrative aspects of designing, sometimes using historical Artefacts and ideas as influences. Nature is a constant inspiration lending the work an organic look and a tactile quality, exploring the textures and construction of pebbles and rocks, how they are made and the Millenia it has taken to form them.
