Finca Milan // Nitrogen Washed Caturra ⚡️
Pulling some delicious shots of this uniquely processed Colombian coffee at the shop currently. The coffee is placed in a bioreactor and inoculated with cultures and fruit must, then injected with nitrogen to facilitate the metabolic process.
In the cup we’re tasting candied watermelon, hubba bubba & chocolate milk. A truly wild coffee to be running on espresso, even for us 🍬

Using polished stainless steel to create our bar, we hope to paint Effy with the different light our stained glass windows bring to this historic building 🌈

Almost a household name at Effy over the years returns onto espresso today. This thermal shock Castillo reminds us of how far processing has come but also how much more refined and intricate the processing at El Paraiso has gotten from when we first tried these coffees years ago
In the cup we’re getting a sour cherry sweetness with a creamy body/mouthfeel with a finish that reminds us of the outside coating of m&m’s ✨

This morning we’re pulling shots of this delicious Colombian Castillo from the La Rivera Farm, anaerobically fermented in oak barrels this is giving a stupidly syrupy espresso reminding us of single malt whiskey, vanilla pod & white sugar
We’re brewing up the final doses of our current rotation of coffees this weekend ✨
Today we’ll be running the last of “coco bongo” from producer Rodrigo Sanchez. This tropical nectar washed Caturra bourbon is a classic “what on earth is in my flat white” kind of coffee, full of rose petals, lychee syrup and dedicated coconut 🥥
It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks since relocating our store & bakery operations to our new home on Heathcoat street and we just wanted to give a huge thanks to everyone, regulars and newcomers who have visited us so far ✨
With this move comes room to breath as a business and continue growing organically with staff, quality and customer service in mind

Our very good mate of is going to be hosting a series of different open cuppings of some pretty special coffees on the 21st October (same day as ) ✨
Alongside this event you’ll catch manhattan coffee across our bar and and we’ll definitely get Esther on one of the to pull a few shots too!

Oli will also be about for any questions regarding competition from his experience within the events, here to help any Nottingham baristas with aspirations for competition ✨
El Paraiso ⚡️Decafe
Keeping our low caffeine offering to the same standards as we would with our espresso service has been a big motivation in our sourcing
This is truly reflected in our current Decafe offering, the trademark thermal shock process from El Paraiso but on a Decafe is yielding wild flavours like no Decafe we’ve tried before. Amoretto, Stewed Cherries and toasted almonds ✨
White Lotus ✨
This super clean washed Java from Nestor lasso & Joan Vergara is unlike any of the coffees we’ve had from these two before, swinging towards a much more refined & delicate cup
In the cup we’re getting lychee concentrate, Lime Keffir & White sugar. We’ll be brewing this on espresso for a super limited time so don’t miss out ⚡️
As we transition to our new location in the autumn we plan on expanding our baked goods further with the building of our downstairs bakery ✨
Until then enjoy a cinnamon bun & a brew of this super tropical Costa Rican from pals .coffee in our original Houndsgate store
A rather intriguing lineup of some of the most well processed “infused” coffees we’ve tried so far, from mates .coffee
Coffees like this we are slightly cautious about talking about, as there tends to be a lot of stigma around them.
How we look at these coffees is to not compare them to any of the more traditional processed coffees in any way and be very clear upon brewing them of this.
Instead we use these to showcase a world of coffee to our customers that they perhaps didn’t know existed, sparking new conversations and inviting people who perhaps thought “coffee is just coffee” to explore something they previously wouldn’t have and potentially develop an interest into the deeper coffee world we find ourselves in!
We have Cinnamon, Grape, Strawberry infused lots on our retail shelf & our espresso/filter menu for you to try over the coming weeks ✨
To counter the cooler weather coming back, we’ve dropped this super sweet/ripe pineapple/thick bodied anaerobic honey processed Costa Rican from mates .coffee in Paris 🇫🇷
