I am so grateful that my job at Evergreen Active allows me to meet so many wonderful people across the Wakefield district - we move together, we talk to each other, we laugh with each other and today, we ate together too
An Asian inspired celebration lunch at Appletree Community Garden followed by pizza en route at Walking Fit Pontefract ๐๐
Both delicious but best of all, both enjoyed in great company ๐ฅฐ

Jayne is a driving instructor so a sedentary - but I can only imagine (based on me as a Learner back in the day ๐ณ๐คฃ) - very stressful job at times ๐๐๐
So to have an hour to herself. To de-stress. Release pent upโฆwell, everything ๐ค and just have a laugh. Was so lovely to see ๐
Itโs so easy as women not to prioritise ourselves and our wellbeing - even for just 1 hour a week - isnโt it?
But doing just that will not only help you feel more your fabulous self; itโll also help your relationships, progress at work and to be a generally happier, stronger & more confident person in your own right ๐ช๐ฝ

Iโd just run 6 miles around Londonโs most iconic Landmarks in 1 hour 3 mins - in 25+ degrees of sunshine ๐ฅต
I had my medal, Finishers T, goody bag and the very best cheerleader โบ๏ธ It was amazing!
I was 49 and I hesitated to post this pic because I thought my belly looked fat in it ๐ฉ
I know what youโre thinking ๐
But. I didnโt know at that point that I was peri-menopausalโฆIโd never even heard the term
I didnโt know then about inflammation, bloating, urgently needing a wee at any given second and unintentional episodes of rage/tears/anxiety/loss of confidence/self doubt
I thought I was doing this running malarkey just for my physical health ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
But I also recognised that it was benefitting my mental health ๐ง I was certainly much happier than I had been for a very long time.
I just hadnโt joined the dots yet ๐ง ๐ช๐ฝ
Now: I know that combining cardio, strength & resistance training each week; is not only what keeps me happy, levelled and resilient, it helps combat my meno symptoms too ๐๐ผ
PS Meno Muffin Tops happen at us all - regardless of how trim our waists may have been before. Doesnโt mean we have to accept it without a fight ๐ฅ

Week 4 of Running for Beginners, Returners & Progressors at Ponte Park and a big welcome & well done to Katy who joined us for the first time this evening ๐ we know this isnโt easy by any stretch, but it is totally do-able and youโll honestly be so happy that you did
Katy: โI enjoyed it more than I thought I wouldโ which is always nice to hear ๐
Also Katy โNobodyโs ever shown me those techniques before, not even on the C25K appโ
Emma & Claire agreed that it was so much better training as a group, to help keep each other motivated and moving ๐
Helen went further & longer ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ & her homework is to break her shiny new trainers in for next week ๐๐
Tom smashed a non-stop loop โฐ of the racecourse and we think he may still be beaming from his well deserved runnerโs high ๐๐

What a difference a week makes!
Last Sunday I was a Total Warrior in the beautiful setting of Bramham Park with amazing friends โ๐ผ
And today, I anti-bacd eleventy billion boxing gloves & focus pads, sat alone in a container in Ossett ๐คฃ
But it cant always be fun times can it?
Sometimes you just have to get the grind and mundane stuff done, knowing that all the little - sometimes boring - things all add up to being able to do the fun & exciting stuff ๐ฅ๐ฅ
I did have 80โs tunes on to get me through - always my cleaning Go-To soundtrack!
When you turn up to Boxercise ๐ only to learn that the class ๐ฅ๐ฅ are in self-imposed quarantine so itโs a circuit training session instead ๐ณ
There was no memo and the room is full of unfamiliar, scary looking equipment like a sled, Plyo box and battle ropes ๐
Your first thought is โI canโt do this, this is definitely not for me today, no thank youโ
What would you do? Leg it out of the door ๐จ and demand a refund?
Or do you - whilst expressing your concerns - trust your instructor that youโve been with for 2 years (and who remembers that you didnโt like the idea of Boxercise to begin with either ๐ but has watched you become so much stronger since and would never ask you to do something she didnโt think you capable of ๐)
And push yourself right out of your comfort zone to not only get through the hourโฆbut to give each & every station your absolute all ๐๐ผ because you remembered who the hell you were & how much harder๐ฉ youโve smashed in life ๐๐ฅ๐๐ผ
Also knowing that youโre in a safe space with lots of love & support around you from a fab group makes such a difference to our confidence ๐๐

* May experience unexpected aches in the bagging area

Tonight, like every week, we had 3 route distance options - to suit beginners, returners, athletes and everyone in between ๐ฅ

Thereโs no pressure on pace, everyone is welcome and nobody is ever left behind - these meets are super friendly & supportive because we all know how scary that first attempt can be ๐ค
