Day Opportunities

Our naughty elves have been up to no good again. On Wednesday, they got into the fridge and broke the eggs, and on Thursday, they got into the staff office and helped themselves to the staff lattes! What will they get up to next?

The city centre hub elves have been very naughty so far this week. On Monday, they tried to escape through the ceiling and went, but that didn't work, so they covered our Christmas tree in toilet paper and hid in it on Tuesday! What will they try next?

We have had some elves appear at the City Centre Hub this morning, and they have bought us an advent calendar! We need your help to name them! Put your suggestions in the comments.

Shaun suggested we organise a cake sale in aid of Children In Need. Staff and Supported People at the Kingfisher Centre were treated to cakes baked by Lisa and other goodies. The sale raised £37.01; well done, Shaun and Lisa.😃

Here at the City Centre Hub, we like to celebrate the achievements of our Supported People and our staff team. We want to congratulate Shaun for winning a Star Employee award for his help and hard work while he has been covering at the Industrial Hub. It is a truly deserved award, and we are all really proud of you! 🌟🌟

Two of the Employability Team are attending a two-day conference for Supported Employment Providers.

On Halloween, we celebrated by having our Macmillan Coffee morning; during the morning, we did baking and pumpkin carving, followed by lots of cakes and treats eating. In the afternoon, we had an eyeball spoon race, spooky Skittles and various other Halloween activities. We raised a fantastic £88.82 for such a great cause!

All had A spooky time at our City Centre Hub Halloween party yesterday. We had a spooky movie morning followed by a buffet lunch. Then, pin the hat on the witch and pin the bow tie on the skeleton, all rounded off with a Halloween disco with music provided by our resident DJ Owen. Congratulations to our game winners and the best fancy dress competition winners! More photos to follow later🎃💀👻

Good morning from the Skills Development Hub. We had a busy day yesterday making spinners and braving the drop in temperature with a nice walk to the Cathedral and Museum. It may have been sunny, but we definitely felt a chill in the air. This is a reminder for all to get those hats and scarves at the ready!

ZooLab visited Kingfisher Centre last week. Chris was fantastic, showcasing the animals and providing us with animal information. We saw a Corn snake, a Leopard gecko, a Chilean rose tarantula and a Rat. This was a fantastic experience for our Supported People.

Marmite has found his forever home! Congratulations to Dom, who won our raffle today at the MacMillan coffee morning.
The City Centre Hub and Skills Development Hub both had stalls at the coffee morning and raised some money for MacMillan in the process.

We are all set up and ready to go with our Pretty Things stall at the MacMillan Coffee Morning here City College Peterborough. Why not pop in and see us. There are some lovely gifts to buy, raffle prizes to be won and some lovely tasty treats made by the catering students. We are here from 10-2.

We have a range of Halloween gifts to sell and some other items our supported people made. We will also hold a raffle with many fantastic prizes, including our 'work experience' bear- Marmite. We will donate a percentage of our sales from our raffle and pretty things stall to the MacMillan charity.

Good Morning from The Skills Development Hub. What a day we had yesterday! We put the paper, pens and sowing machines away, hopped in a minibus and went to Hamerton Zoo. Our experienced tour guide Helen was on hand to tell us all about the animals and birds. The best part of the day was seeing the lions! It was a perfect day, and the weather was just right! Where shall we go next on our travels?

Today at Kingfisher, aka Rydell High, we started our morning off with Chloe’s Dance Company, jiving and rocking to the music and having fun. We visited the Beauty school dropout this afternoon and had our yearbook photos. To end the day, we all went to a high school dance.

Good morning from everyone at The Skills Development Hub! We have started a 5-week cooking course at Brook Street and made Quiche this week. All those weeks of training from Chef Andy have clearly paid off. Fantastic results, and it's great to see everyone getting involved.

It was a busy day at the Skills Development Hub yesterday. With only 96 days till Christmas, we were perfecting our card-making skills! Our supported people made a selection of Christmas cards and get-well-soon cards.

Back at the beginning of the year, we asked people from within the college and the wider community to create squares for our amazing coronation quilt to be displayed in the cathedral. Today, we received a lovely thank you card from the King and Queen in recognition of our efforts to celebrate the coronation. A big thank you to everyone who created a square to be used; without you, it would not have been possible.

Happy Tuesday from everyone at The Skills Development Hub. We have been busy moving into our new rooms and celebrated by making some fantastic giant paper butterflies! Great effort, as always!

What beautiful weather we are having this week. We have enjoyed cooling down and enjoying a skate around the ice rink.

We have success! Owen has been working really hard recently on using his hands during baking and letting them get messy. He has always struggled with the texture of ingredients and the thought of his hands getting dirty. Today, we did a 1 to 1 baking session with Owen not wearing gloves, and he completed the process of making cookies without any help. It has taken two years for Owen to get to this point, and is an outstanding achievement! Well done Owen.

It was a great day at the Skills Development Hub yesterday with our supported people making paper flowers.
The effort and attention to detail they all put in was fantastic! Just look at the concentration on those faces!
