We are delighted to be kicking off our autumn exhibition series this Friday the 20th of September from 6-8pm, with a collection of paintings and drawings by !!!

Jake is a local artist and regular supporter of The Talk Shop exhibitions.

Graduating in Fine Art and Art History from the University of Plymouth in 2022, Jacob’s early artistic explorations delved into the intersections of film and language.
In this exhibition, Jacob presents an ‘Open sketchbook’ an array of drawings and paintings that mark a shift in his creative journey. Since graduation, he has embraced drawing and painting as his primary practise, reflecting a deep-seated desire to return to the tactile and immediate nature of these mediums. Utilising paint to sketch imagery inspired by the cross connection of history, not from a chronological or linear sense but a mixture of layers, to where the intangible nature of mythology and experience can be intertwined through a weave of existence and story telling. Jacob uses paintings and canvas as a vessel of continuous sketching often painting over or developing them into developing narratives.

Lumen Printing Chemigram Workshop

Join current exhibiting artist Molly Budd to learn the process behind her work ‘9O: Works From The Sun’.

Participants will be invited to make creative prints using the sun and light-sensitive paper. Bring your own interestingly shaped objects with varying opacities, outlines and block shapes to see what happens when we use the sunlight to create patterns from its shadow.

Chemigrams are a form of cameraless photography that can be produced in the light. To experiment further with lumen printing, this process can utilise household items and liquid products to deter the chemical reaction in development and create unexpected results.

Drop in sessions, all are welcome for a relaxed and experimental play.

Dates and times as follows;
Friday 21st June 2pm-5pm
Sunday 23rd June 11am-3pm

We are delighted to have local artist and photographer exhibiting with us starting next week!!! Join us for the Opening Event on Tuesday the 11th from 6-8!!

Molly Budd is a visual artist based in Plymouth. Her work is developed through alternative photography techniques, experimenting with time-based lumen printing.

‘Works From the Sun’ presents a collection of images in transience, faded and fixed onto material surfaces. The object serves as a light-altering barrier, creating autonomous impressions of the sun’s influence and exposing infinite variations as a circular form.

Cliik Community is committed to supporting local people to develop and build their skills. By supporting local artists to take, what is often their first step into exhibiting in a public space, we are able to help build their confidence and raise their profile within the local arts community.

We are really excited to be collaborating with Tom Hepworth for our next exhibition! Where he will be exhibiting his contemporary standing stones. Please join us for the opening event on the 28/05 from 6-8pm.
Whilst studying for his Masters in Craft at Arts University Plymouth, Tom became fascinated with the standing stones of Dartmoor. Through sculpture Tom explores the historic context of these stones, as well as the potential stories behind them, and reforms them with contemporary processes.
The stones are scanned and mapped, before being translated into modern materials. Tom’s
re-contextualisation of these stones offers us a new insight into the past, and continues this extended history into the present.

We have two fantastic exhibitions coming up next month! Starting with Tiffany Zufelt’s ‘100 Objects’.
This exhibition explores the concept that objects are more than tools, luxuries or junk, that our possessions become extensions of the self.

Tiffany explores her position in the design world through drawing. From iconic objects such as Juicy Salic by Phillip Stark to objects of the home, she questions every piece, “what does this mean? What does this do? How does this make me feel?”

Join us for the opening event from 6-8pm on the 5th of March!

23/02/2024

An evening with artist, Cam Williamson and Cliik Community Director, Arnet Donkin, in a discussion where we explored our experiences and feelings about the places and spaces we inhabit as Q***r people.
