Today our babies have had lots of fun exploring our bugs and natural resources and using binoculars to get an even closer look 👀What a great way to incorporate early maths by counting legs and ladybird spots!

It’s World Elephant Day! 🐘🐘🐘
Did you know that elephants can stand as tall as 13 feet at the shoulder – taller than a double-decker bus! Elephants play a crucial role in shaping their environment, by knocking down trees and creating water holes they maintain the health of their ecosystems, which also benefits many other species and plants. World Elephant Day helps to celebrate and support the conservation of these magnificent creatures!

Last week the baby room showed a particular interest in dinosaurs and had lots of fun practising their roaring! 🦖🦕

Ready, set, go!
This week our children have been busy practising their Olympic skills, from bike races to balloon tennis, and high jump to ball games! Some of our children have also been very busy creating their very own medals! 🥇🥈🥉I wonder what our Mini Olympians will get up to next week!

A week of celebrations at Nemo’s!
Over the weekend our lovely Charlotte went to a horse show, riding Llanarth Seldom Seen – a Welsh Section D Stallion. She won the Section D Class and went Welsh Champion! 🏆🏆🏆
A few of you may have also noticed a few birthday banners this week in the baby room. Yesterday our lovely Summer turned 21! Happy Birthday Summer! 🎂🥳🎂🥳

The pre-schoolers had lots of fun earlier this week taking on the role of little scientists at the beach. It took a lot of experimenting to work out how much water was needed to make the most perfect sandcastles! 🏖️☀️

What a great group of little helpers! Our pre-schoolers put their skills to the test and challenged themselves to help build our brand new garden benches! They had so much enjoyment when they could eat their snack in the beautiful sunshine this afternoon after all their hard work, before turning the benches into a wonderful picnic role play!

Another action-packed day at Nemo’s!

Just look at the amazing concentration on our mini bakers face, showing off all the skills he has learned during cooking club! What a star! 👨‍🍳🌟

Our mini adventurers also had a great time exploring the local woodland!

Making a splash!
Baby room made the most of the sunshine this morning by exploring water play in the garden. Our little ones practised their scooping and pouring skills, and were even promoted to ‘mini gardeners’ after watering the plants! 🌺🌺🌺

Today our pre-schoolers went on a bug hunt in our local woodland area! Our little adventurers used our bug hunt checklist to tick off any bugs we spotted, and used their early maths skills to count how many we found! We were able to learn lots about bugs, their habitats and if they could fly!

Look at our typewriter!
Our preschoolers were very excited to explore the new typewriter this afternoon. It provided a great opportunity for early maths, as the children were able to recognise numbers and find the one that matched how old they are! They were also able to identify and find the first letter of their name!

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” has been a big hit in the nursery this week which provided a great opportunity to incorporate it into the gardening club! The children had lots of fun decorating their very own caterpillars, choosing from a range of materials and colours, and re-telling the story with their caterpillars. You may be able to spot them hiding amongst our grass seed 🐛🐛🐛.

We celebrated “Happy National Pizza Day! “ last week 🍕🍕🍕
What a fantastic day we had here at Nemo’s! The children enjoyed choosing their own toppings and creating their very own pizza’s to celebrate National Pizza Day

Yesterday some of our babies took on the challenge of joining the older children for their weekly baking session! Our mini master chefs practised kneading, pouring, cutting, slicing and squeezing to make the most perfect focaccia with a white bean dip for the side, which they loved tucking into for their delicious afternoon snack. I wonder what new skills and tasty treats we will discover next week!

What an exciting way to start Wednesday with our very own Baby Foam party! Sensory play is so important for little ones as they begin to explore their fine and gross motor skills, creativity, and introduce new language.

During yesterday’s gardening club the children explored their creative sides to make mud paint in our mud kitchen. We discovered that mixing paint and mud together can create unique pictures whilst also exploring natural materials! We were able to test if the paint would mix with the earth and find solutions to help them combine together. What a creative way to practice fine motor skills such as squeezing, scooping and painting as well as exploring the natural environment

Yesterday our little bakers mastered the traditional Spanish 🇪🇸Bizcocho sponge cake by using their fine motor skills to crack and separate eggs, having a go at using the whisk and early maths to measure the ingredients . Cooking club also provides a great opportunity for the children to develop their Personal, Social and Emotional skills, such as turn taking and team work! Which country will we be visiting next in our wonderful cooking club …..

Gardening club this week included expanding our herb garden 🪴🪴🪴.The children dug the soil and checked that the size of the herb plants would fit, working together to problem solve and dig bigger holes if needed. The children then learnt about how these herbs will be used in our weekly cooking club. What a great way to start the week!

This morning our little gardeners had great fun recycling welly boots and turning them into fabulous flower pots! They concentrated as they filled with wellies with stones and soil and took great care when planting the flowers. Together we were able to plant and talk about succulents, ferns and pansies. You may spot some of our plants around the nursery! 🪴🎍🌵

As 2023 draws to a close we would like to wish all our family and friends a very safe and Happy Christmas & an absolutely amazing New Year 🎉🎉🎉

The team at Nemos had a well deserved night out last night filled with lots of fun and laughter….i cannot thank the team enough for their hard work and the dedication they give on a daily basis….they simply are the best!

Busy busy week preparing for all our Christmas festivities. Our pre-school children had a wonderful time at the Three Little Pigs performance and the children really enjoyed telling all their friends about the story when the returned to Nemo’s. A big thankyou to the staff who really looked after us

The children had so much fun baking and decorating ginger bread houses with their friends this week. Their creativity and imagination really shined through 💫🎄.

Have you seen our new Christmas wreath? During our gardening club the children rose to challenge by using just wool and their little fingers to make the most amazing pom poms for our Christmas wreath. They are so proud to see their creations greeting them at the front door every day

Our little gardeners have been very busy creating our very own Nemo’s herb garden! 🪴Together we were able to scoop soil into the planter, plant the herbs and water them. I wonder which herbs we can use in our homemade lunches and cooking club recipes 🥰

As we prepare for the festive season we sadly say goodbye to our weekly CYCLEme TOTS sessions. There were big smiles all around as each of the children were awarded with their very own certificates for taking part in the weekly balance bike sessions. The balance bikes have provided a fun way of strengthening their core muscle and co-ordination, as well as increasing their awareness of their surroundings

What a ‘spooktacular’ week at Nemo’s! The children have been very busy practising their fine motor skills while helping to scoop out pumpkins and carve them – you may have seen them in our front garden area! Other activities included baking Halloween cupcakes, exploring pumpkins, decorating the nursery with Halloween artwork and so much more ‘scarily gooey’ messy play! The children (and the team) have also loved showing off their Halloween outfits! 🎃
