Galiani Glass Art is an exciting glass studio within the heart of Dorset where glass artists Gail and Ian collaborate using craftsmanship and a range of skills to design and create a wide variety of kilnformed glass art for the home, office and fashion.
Summer Festival – Sculpture by the Lakes - Tuesday 25th June – Saturday 29th June.
Pallington Lakes, Dorchester. DT2 8QU
Two days to go! Packing the van, choosing which glass to take and not long now! See you there.
One of the lovely opportunities available on visiting the Summer Festival is the chance to see the artists at work. There is such a variety of skills and expertise on show it is well worth a visit.
At Galiani Glass Art’s stand you will see lampwork bead demo’s going on all week. Lampworking is the art of making glass beads in an open flame, working with molten glass and creating a multitude of designs. This Art has been around for thousands of years. Beads showing designs we still make today have been found in Roman and Saxon burial sites around the country.
How amazing is that? Come along and watch and maybe buy a handmade glass bead pendant or pair of earrings for yourself!

Hello,
Hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather. Doesn’t it make you feel more cheerful. I know it does me.🤗
Today is ‘World Earth Day’, prompting reflection on our planet’s splendour and the urgency of conservation efforts.
Despite the environmental challenges posed by our craft, we are committed to minimising our footprint 👣 at Galiani Glass Art and in preserving the wildlife around our studio.
For example we keep the birds fed and watered in our little area.
We optimise our kiln usage wherever possible, use recycled bubble wrap and have a policy to ‘reuse it’ and we are also looking at the cost of paper wrapping.
As you can imagine, we have many glass remnants and we do love finding innovative ways to use them!
Some of our glass art is created too, not only because it is beautiful but because it advocates for marine habitat protection, for example our seahorse designs we have been working on.
They are such wonderful mystic creatures and so worth protecting.
We love the ocean and much of our glass work reflects that. Beauty and majesty side by side! But again it needs our love and care to keep it that way, rather than being polluted by us.
Let us all do our little bit and that way so mush will be gained.
Take care of each other and all together we can take care of our planet.
Here we are in Wareham handing out the brochures and road signs for Dorset Art weeks to excited artists. Look out for your copy when you are out and about in the next few weeks. Here we are with David Graham a lovely ceramicist and his wife Lesley based in Lytchett Matravers.

It’s coming soon!
Easter is nearly upon us, although I’m sure I saw Easter Eggs in January! To celebrate we, at Galiani Glass Art, will be venturing out for the first time this Year to the Poundbury Easter Market being held at Crown Square, which will also include an Easter Egg Hunt!
It starts at 9am and will end at 3pm.
You will find local businesses, and local craftsmen and women there for you to buy, taste and admire their wares! We will, of course, be there with our lovely glass and if you fancy a ‘non’ chocolate Easter treat in glass then our stall could be just the thing for you!!
We look forward to seeing you there.

Hello.
Take a look at this!
Last Year, we got a really interesting challenge from the amazing metal sculptor, Ted Edley from TV’s ‘The Restorers’.
He turned up with a few bits of glass and said, ‘can you match these’ and Ian with his clever brain was able to do an amazing job of pulling it off. It required a lot of creative thinking and research before he was able to get started and produce the pieces of glass necessary for the project. But it was so exciting to watch it all unfold.
The glass was from a pair of huge 1920’s Art Deco lights from a Dublin theatre. While each lamp had 64 pieces of glass, the majority were broken or cracked, so we decided that the best way was to replace all 128 pieces. All the glass was crafted using a traditional glue chipping process where glue is attached to the glass and as it dries it literally rips away the surface in remarkable patterns that make every piece individual.
So as Ted took the lamp apart Ian set about this amazing, and very labour intensive, procedure of cutting, gluing, drying and etching the glass to bring back the beautiful luminescence of those original lamps. Many, many hours provided a beautiful match of the glass which I was really pleased with – as, thankfully, was Ted. It was then over to Ted who did a magnificent job of restoring both lamps back to their original glory. It was so worth it to see them finally completed.
Thanks to for giving Ian the opportunity to recreate those gorgeous pieces of glass and for the amazing comments on TV from .and.bone.bros at how perfectly matched they were – I almost blushed(and that takes a lot of doing! ;-) ). You can catch the programme on Discovery+ (Season 6, episode 12).

Well, nearly at the end of January and luckily, despite the weather we have still managed to get out for a walk or two which feels so good😊
This time of year we are all thinking of new projects for the home and the kitchen and bathroom are always great options - after all we use them every day.
Maybe you are thinking of upgrading your kitchen or bathroom or thinking of having a new kitchen fitted. If so, now is the time to consider enhancing your space with a handcrafted glass splashback uniquely tailored to your style and tastes. We believe that unlike standard options, a custom-made glass splashback adds character and individuality to a living space. It becomes a striking focal point in your home and is uniquely yours. We love interacting with our clients, discussing their ideas and colour preferences, helping them settle on the perfect design for them and then bringing it to completion. It is so satisfying to see the wonderful reactions of clients when their splashback is fitted and they see the full effect for the first time!
If you would like more details concerning the commissioning process please do visit our website, via this link, and it should hopefully answer many of your questions.

Or why not come and visit us for a chat or contact us either by phone or email, all found on our contact page on the website.

Let me know what your favourite type of jewellery is to wear. I love rings and I have also made a number for other people!
