ποΈ British Heart Foundation Spin-a-thon ALERT π¨
Date: Monday 3rd of June
Time: 5 pm - 8 pm
Place: Cycle Studio (located upstairs in the gym)
πThrough our partnership with the British Heart Foundation, we will be taking on the Every Beat Counts challenge from the 30th of May to the 6th of June.
π On average, our hearts beat 100,000 times a day and PureGym aims to turn those beats into miles, travelling 100,000km across all of our gyms, aiming to raise Β£100,000 for British Heart Foundation
π Our club target is to travel 175km to do our part in this journey and a goal of Β£175 donation
ποΈ We will be embarking on a 3-hour spin-a-thon. At the end of the session, we will all combine our total distance travelled and see how far we have all gone π
π² You will find a sign-up sheet outside the spin studio, please write your name, donate Β£10 (use your name) through the QR and this will secure your place on our spin-a-thon.

How to do perfect plank ~ variations part 3:
1.) The fabulous forearm to full plank: Starting with the forearm plank, ensure your form is correct. One hand at a time, lift your arm up and come up onto your hand and then bring your other hand up to rest on too. After youβve done this, reverse what you just did and carefully go back down onto your forearms and repeat.
2.) The hard-core hip-dip plank: Begin with your forearm plank and steadily lean your hip to one side so it almost touches the floor. Raise your hip back up and then lean the other side down. Repeat this for as long as you can!
3.) The supreme side hip-dip plank: starting with a side plank, (on arms or hands) carefully lower your bottom hip down to the floor, then raise it back up to its original position. Repeat this, and then do the same on the other arm!
If you do these variations, you automatically become a King/Queen of Planksπ Give them a try today!

How to do perfect plank ~ variations part 2:
1.) The totally terrific toe tap plank: Start in the original plank position, then slightly raise one of your feet up and move it out to one side, then tap it on the floor lightly, and bring it back in to its starting position. Then do the same on the other side, and repeat!
2.) The show-stopping shoulder tap plank: Begin in a full plank position. Carefully lift one hand off the floor and bring it towards your opposite shoulder. Tap your opposite shoulder gently and return your hand back down to where it started. Repeat with the other hand to the other shoulder, and keep it going for as long as you can!
3.) The remarkable raised leg plank: This can be done on your forearms or hands, whatever you prefer. Start with the correct form and then steadily raise one leg up, ensuring it stays straight. If you want to make it eveeen harder, hold it there for a few seconds, then slowly place it back down onto the floor. Do the same on the other leg and repeat.
Now gowaaan, go try a new variation of the plank!

How to do perfect plank ~ variations part 1:
1.) The fantastic full plank: Keeping the same form as the original plank, but this time instead of leaning on your forearms, you will be resting on your hands. Keep your arms straight, and have your shoulders, elbows and wrists in-line.
2.) The fancy forearm side plank: Lay on your side, and prop yourself up with your forearm and the side of your foot. Keep your hips straight and in-line with the floor and the ceiling. This plank is great for improving balance which also makes your core muscles work harder!
3.)The sensational side plank on hands: Very similar to the previous plank, but this time leaning on your hand instead of your forearm. Keep arms and legs straight and strong also have your hips straight, not slouched!
Hope this helps to spice up your workouts when you do thank plank!

How to do a perfect plank:
Picture 1: Arms = Rest on your forearms either out straight, or with your hands together - whatever you find more comfortable. Your shoulder should be in-line and above your elbow to keep you stable.
Picture 2: Glutes = No bottoms up in the air!
Picture 3: Hips = Nooo slouched hips.
Picture 4: Back = Keep your back straight! A sturdy, straight back, hips in-line and abs engaged to stay strong.
Picture 5: Feet = Have your toes flexed on the floor to keep you up.
Picture 6: Feet = Donβt be a silly goose and have the tops on your feet on the floor.
Picture 7: Put βemβ all together, et voilaβ¦ youβve now completed a perfect plank! Wahoooππ

How to do a sublime stiff leg deadlift
Picture 1: Start by holding the bar with an over hand grip (or one hand over and one under if you prefer.) Lift the barbell off the rack and take a step back. Have the barbell resting in front of your thighs with your arms straight.
Picture 2 Hinge the hips back and keep your back straight. The barbell should be in contact with your thighs as you lower your body down, by hinging your hips back further.
Picture 3: Keep your arms straight and have the barbell just in front of your shins, but not touching. Make sure your back is still straight. Top tip: To help ensure your back is straight, have your shoulders back and chest up slightly, looking at a far point on the floor ahead of you.
Picture 4: Pushing your weight through your heels, push your hips slowly forwards again to straighten back up to standing. Remember on the way back up, the barbell will be against your thighs again and arms will be straight.
