The mother of modern reflexology - Eunice Ingham 👣 ⠀

Born 1889 in South Dekota, Eunice went on to work as a physiotherapist for Dr Joe S Riley. Riley had great interest in the works of a collegue Dr Fitzgerald, a leading ear, nose & throat surgeon that had published on the subject of Zone Therapy.⠀
⠀
In his work, Fitzgerald discovered that the body could be divided into 10 zones and he could alleviate pain in one area by applying deep pressure to another area of the zone. He even performed minor operations without the use of anaesthetics by applying pressure to specific points on patients.⠀
⠀
Eunice took Fitzgeralds findings and developed his work further with extensive research and hands on experience she was able to map the zones of the feet to the organs of the body - creating the first reflexology foot chart. Eunice dedicated the rest of her life to researching reflexology. Her book published in 1938 “stories the feet can tell” is still relevant today. 👣
