2024.02.03 New amendment within the Building Regulations that came into force in October 2023 places duties on clients, designers and contractors (builders). If you are thinking of a building project you need to be aware of these new duties, get I touch for an initial consultation.

2024.01.02 Need for Speed - Building Regulations Application submitted before Christmas and an Approval first day back !! A surprise all round which means the project will commence at our clients leisure.

2023.12.05 Developer estates. Not a commonly known but some developer builds can go through alot of planning red tape. Typically, there will be some planning conditions that will remain in force, such as the removal of permitted development rights. Another constraint could be housing built to previous standards that may hamper a simply development. So get in touch if you are thinking of a project for you home.

2023.12.01 No Flashy Drawings. It's not all about slick drawings. Knowing the site surroundings and constraints helps enormously to realise practical solutions and client aspirations. This 1950's layout is full of useful information, and yes it was hand drawn back in the day.

2023.10.06 Inclusivity. Not all designs are glitz and glam. We are all different as Architects we need to adapt and be sensitive to client needs. This early design looks at making an inclusive design for a client with a movement challenge. We are delighted to be involved in early discussions.

2023.08.25 Air BNB garage conversion. This simple garage conversion has taken a step beyond the normal. The compact proposal has been well finished to the client requirements, and we look forward to seeing the completed article.

2023.05.03 Ground levels, it is not uncommon to come across sites with varying levels. Working to a solution to develop a side access and extension while retaining trees and structures. An early meeting with an engineer and arborist will inform the project.

2023.04.20 - Grey House moving forward. Delighted that our client has been in touch to move their project forward. A positive meeting with the engineer has ignited a new impetus with a happy client

23.03.31 - elevational design options, sometimes even when you know what the right solution is, you have to take the planning officer on the journey.

As the dwelling was on a prominent corner, the planning officer was sensitive to potential impacts and retaining character of the area.

23.03.03 Victorian Chic, occasionally you get a real gem of a Building to survey. Proportions and architectural language come together to inform one another. Simple features in brick articulate the detailing and shows how the victorians were only limited by the technology of the time.

2022.12.13 Christmas comes early ! From an engaging pre application on this developer site with constraints, we are delighted to have received a planning consent. The proposed rear/side extension provides a much needed study, snug and family room with improved circulation and connectivity.

2022.12.07 Its the little things that count. Sometimes thinking a design challenge through from the basics leads to potential solutions. A simple pencil sketch can explain a thousand words.

2022.10.05 Shiplake. A potential two storey rear extension reviewed as a feasibility. Creating a family kitchen dining area onto the garden with boot room and a snug/study. In addition the first floor is reviewed to increase bedroom accommodation with a luxury master bedroom.

2022.10.01 Old Rectory House
A 1960s design based on a symmetrical layout. The site is hidden away from the main highway and offers privacy and seclusion.

The family is growing and we are assisting with new bedroom and bathroom accommodation that respects the original design.

2022.03.29 New arrival ! Fantastic news from our client and a new family member on the way, along with a request for an additional bedroom. So a quick sketch to see if we can develop a feasibility ahead of our meeting. Buildability in mind we have also looked at massing and elevations too.
