What a week last week was! Iām still feeling exhausted now after my Part 1 EMDR Training, but I absolutely loved it. I met some great people and learnt so much. I canāt wait to get going, to see the benefits for my wonderful clients.
EMDR can speed up the therapy process by resolving the impact of past traumas and allow you to live more fully in the present. It can be used to treat PTSD, as well as a number of other mental health difficulties.

Itās been a little while since Solve and Evolve Therapies shared a bit about our practice.
Iām Sarah Elliott, the founder of the practice and this is a bit about me and what I do.
Almost 20 years ago, having worked in the care industry and in a school with autistic children, I felt passionate about helping and supporting others and decided to specialise in this area. I started my journey working in a private psychiatric hospital and completed my very first Counselling course in 2004. In 2008, I was thrilled to become a qualified counsellor. Not easy, being by far the youngest of the group in every course I completed, but I have always loved a challenge.
Following this, I trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2014, Supervision and working with both adults and adolescents. I specialise in supporting people with depression and anxiety disorders, including low self-esteem and have a special interest in post traumatic stress disorder.
I enjoy seeing people grow in confidence and being part of their journey with them.
In 2017 I built what has grown into a successful private practice called Solve and Evolve Therapies. What I love most about this, is the flexibility to provide the service that my clients need. I follow the guidelines and can adapt my approach, based on the individual I am working with. I work flexibly, drawing from years of experience with Counselling and CBT.
I also have the privilege of providing Supervision for students at universities and many other Mental Health Clinicians. I thrive from sharing my knowledge and expertise in the mental health field, whilst equally learning from each and every individual I have ever worked with too.
Solve and Evolve therapies are living up to our name and forever developing our practice. We have exciting opportunities coming up, including training in EMDR next year (for trauma, phobias and other psychological difficulties) and are currently exploring the idea of taking on an associate to help with the workload, as we have so many referrals and want to be able to support more people who need us.

Another fantastic review for Solve and Evolve Therapies regarding CBT for Health Anxiety! Shared with permission:
"CBT was new to me but I had been advised by my consultant to set up some sessions to help me deal with health anxiety. I found the whole experience enlightening and with Sarahās guidance learnt to understand why I feel the way I do. The sessions were well structured and Sarah listened to what I had to say and how I felt and helped me to face my fears in a way that was achievable. Having never felt so terrified or out of control itās testament to Sarahās guidance and patience that I found my old self and am feeling happy and positive about the future armed and the skills I have gained to recognise and deal with my anxiety."

Today is the first day of week and is the theme for 2022. 1 in 4 adults experience loneliness some or all of the time. Many clients we have worked with at Solve and Evolve Therapies have expressed the significance of this, particularly since the pandemic.
The Mental Health Foundation offer help and advice on how to cope with loneliness and improve your mental health. Here are their top tips:
1. Try to do some enjoyable things that will keep you busy ļæ¼
2. Try to do things that stimulate your mind
3. Think about doing a physical activity
4. Try to engage with the people you meet in your daily life
5. Find people that āget youā
6. Spend time with pets
7. Try to use social media in a positive way
8. Talking therapies can help
Look out for those around you and take some time to think about your own mental health and consider how you can take care of yourself as well.
This is me (Sarah) enjoying the outdoors. In such a busy world, Iām thinking about how I should take more time like this for reflection and allow myself to just ābeā.

Solve and Evolve Therapies are pleased to be able share (with permission) a few reviews from clients we have had the honour of working with recently.
āāI wish I had met my therapist years ago. She has helped me to finally understand why I have always had difficulties in life generally and has helped me understand I can and will be able to change. Itās work in progress, but im confident that will the techniques suggested and commitment on my part, I can go forward and be truly happy. My therapist has always been willing to let me express how I felt and I am truly thankful for everything she has helped me with- im going to miss her!āā
āāI was severely and prior to my sessions with Sarah, but she quickly understood the issues I was dealing with and provided excellent treatment which changed my life for the better. She helped me come to terms with my mother's passing, which I had spent many years feeling incredibly about and couldn't see a way out of feeling that way. Following our focussed sessions, I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted and a lot of the negative thinking and emotions that I was previously struggling with have gone. Sarah's treatment was incredibly effective and I am extremely grateful to her for helping me overcome a lot of my trauma triggers, which has greatly improved my relationships with family and friends.
I found it easy to open up to Sarah and she always approached our discussions in a thoughtful manner. She provided me with many helpful resources and techniques to improve my in the long term, which I have utilised on a regular basis even after we wrapped up our sessions. I thought it was great that Sarah ensured we spent sufficient time on relapse prevention, in order to make sure I would be okay going forward. As well as this, I appreciated how Sarah always ensured that our sessions were structured by setting an agenda at the start.
Overall, Sarah has helped me changed my perspective on many things and I now live my life in a much more fulfilling way thanks to her. I would recommend her services to anyone struggling with trauma/ without hesitation.āā
āāSarah was very approachable, made me feel comfortable to discuss my thoughts and feelings openly. She guided me with coping strategies by giving me the correct tools to apply when Iām faced with difficult situations.āā
