🩵💙HAPPY FATHER’S DAY💙🩵
We had a fabulous day on Thursday celebrating Fathers Day! The Children invited someone important to them to share this special day at playgroup.
The children got involved with the provided activities such as decorating keyrings, making paper plate medals, and exploring the themed playdough aswell as playing in the garden. The children used what they made in the activities, along with the cards and picture frames we made earlier in the week and were able to spoil their dads and loved ones.
The children enjoyed having their Dads/loved ones by their side to share the activities and even treated them to some cake. We all had an amazing day and the children were delighted that they were able to show their dads and other loved ones how much they mean to them by sharing the afternoon together.
"Father's Day is an occasion to honor the men who have shaped our lives with their love, wisdom, and strength." we were honoured that we were able to be a part of this.
🚔🚨🚓👮♂️👮♀️
This week we are learning all about people who help us. We started this topic by inviting a special visitor to come and talk to us all about how to stay safe. PCSO Annie showed us her uniform explained why each bit is important, what different resources they use to help us and even let us sit in her police van. 👮🚓🚔
We are having the best first week back exploring our lovely new garden areas 🌿🌸
🌱Has anyone got any free compost/ top soil/ wood chippings they can kindly donate to help towards our gardening project 🌱

💐🩷HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 🩷💐
We had a fabulous day on Friday celebrating Mother’s Day! Mothers and Children were invited to share this special day at playgroup.
The children got involved with the activities such as planting flowers, decorating pot covers and exploring our flower play dough. The children used what they had made in the activities, along with the cards and beautiful bookmarks we made earlier in the week and were able to spoil their mums.
The children enjoyed having their Mothers/Grandparent by their side during the activities and even treated them to cake and a cup of tea/coffee. We all had an amazing day and the children were delighted that they were able to show their Mum’s how much they love them by sharing the afternoon together.
Mother’s Day celebrates the special bond that exists between a mother/grandparent and child. It is an opportunity for children to show appreciation for their Mothers/Others and we were honoured that we were able to be a part of this.
It’s that time of year again when mini eggs are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that, just like grapes, they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.
With whole grapes we advise cutting them in half lengthways and ideally into quarters to create thin strips. But chopping up mini eggs isn’t as easy. So, what can you do?
1. Hide them from the children and eat them yourself – good luck with that!
2. Put the mini eggs into a sealable plastic bag and smash them into small pieces with a rolling pin. Or, crush them in a pestle and mortar.
3. Opt for a different treat. Larger, hollow eggs are much safer for little ones.
Visit our choking hub to learn more about common choking hazards and what you should do in an emergency: https://capt.org.uk/choking-prevention/
We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and new year.
Just a quick reminder that playgroup reopens on Tuesday 9th January at 9 am. We look forward to seeing you all.
Happy new year to all our children and families, past and present. We look forward to welcoming you all back and a busy year ahead.
The children have had a busy december. The children have been doing lots of Christmas crafts, writing letters to santa, going to the shop for stamps and then a trip to the post box to post our letters. The children have also decorated trees, for playgroup and taking some decorations to the church for there tree.
We hope you all have a fantastic Christmas 🌲🌲. We will see you all in the New year when we open again on the 9th Jan.
We are ready at snaith Christmas market. Come and see you and take home your new best friend.
The children have been getting festive and creative. They have made some wonderful Christmas decorations.
This year the children are selling their pine cone trees to parents and family. The trees will be £3 each and all proceeds will go back into buying resources for the children.
If you would like to purchase your child's creation please speak to a member of staff.
Last week the children really enjoyed going for walk to share a story at the bandstand about remembrance sunday.
The book the children listened to was called a day to remember, the story touches on why we wear poppies and the special meaning around this.
The children also made 2 beautiful wreaths which were laid during the service by a member of playgroup committee.
What a lovely day we had on Sunday 22nd October celebrating our 11th annual Scarecrow festival. There were some brilliant Scarecrows. We raised £244.50 for playgroup. Thankyou to all the staff & committee for all their help and to all the great bakers & to everyone who helped to make the day a success.
The winning Scarecrow was The Hungry Caterpillar 🐛
Today for snack we had toast. We watched as Kasha put the bread in the toaster. Sally then gave us some butter and we had a go at buttering own toast. We really enjoyed this independence and the toast was super yummy.
Such an emotional last day 😭😭 xx
After over 30 years working in childcare the last five at Carlton Playgroup it is time for me to retire. They have been some of the best times working with the best group of staff who have become life long friends. So it's time to hand over the reigns to Emily Wood who I know will do an amazing job. I'd like to wish all the children, parents, staff
and Carlton Playgroup all the very best for the future.😍😍

We had lots of fun in the sun last week. We had gloop in the tuff trays watching the gloop go from solid to liquid then turning back to a solid. We had lots of water play jumping and splashing in and out of the water. In the shade we used our duplo to build different structures.
