β Never underestimate the joy of new mugs...
π΅ Tea or coffee? Well, personally, it's a decent coffee for me (aeropressed!)
Although... caffeine in moderation only, and never after lunch (Otherwise, falling and staying asleep can be problematic)
Personally, I don't go above 2 mugs a day, because it leads me to get jittery and anxious - signs of nervous system dysregulation, taxing the body too much.
π§ I also make sure I take in other fluids during the morning, to make sure I'm hydrated - water (with some electrolytes) and collagen are also usually seen sitting on my desk alongside the coffee cup.
β π΅ If you have a mug with a word or phrase on it, what does it say? I'm curious!! (And a bit nosey!!!)
Last weekend, I went to 2 events at - the 1st was an upskill day, with the fabulous and talking about accountability and action.
This is me, taking action and being accountable to MY health and strength, so that I can help you with yours.
Sunday sweaty selfie after core workout with bands and weights... jeepers, I hadn't realised how much I'd let myself decondition - quite embarrassing really, especially as a health care professional...
There is a HUGE difference between being able to prescribe the movment and exercise from a position of knowledge, vs embodied knowing.
Anyone else want to join me? We can help keep each other accountable!
Hello! There are some important changes coming up at the clinic.
Our associate chiropractor, Kate, has been offered an exciting opportunity to join another clinic and will no longer be with us. Kate's final shift at S1 Chiropractic will be on Thursday, 3rd October, and there are a limited number of appointments available with her before she departs. If youβd like to see her before she leaves, I recommend booking as soon as possible.
In addition, receptionist Sarah has also accepted a new role as a practice manager at the new clinic. Sarahβs last day at S1 Chiropractic will be Thursday, 26th September.
While I will miss them both, I want to reassure you that I remain fully committed to your care. I will be adjusting my working hours to better accommodate your needs and will work with you to find suitable appointment times. However, due to diary pressures, appointment slots tend to fill quickly, so I highly recommend booking in advance wherever possible.
The clinic will be transitioning to a staffless micropractice, supported by a virtual reception service to manage bookings and enquiries. I have also been working hard with our clinic service provider on our new client facing app, which will make it easier for you to book appointments and get in touch with me.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment and sharing more about the exciting updates ahead.
Yours in wellness,
Libby

Enjoy!π
Well, we've finally made it to the end of the academic year and summer holidays!
Appointment availability is a little reduced over the school holidays due to family commitments.
Please, PLEASE don't delay booking if you were planning on coming during the summer - slots are filling fast and we're already booking into September. We hate to disappoint!
π‘ Phew, what a scorcher it's been today! π
π This lovely, lively wriggler came in today for a follow-up appointment π Pleased to report he's making great progress!
πΆ Once babies are on the move, sessions often have to be dynamic, requiring on-the-spot adaptability.
πΆ This can often look like play, or even be whilst little ones are nursing!
πΆ Reflex, movement and development checks during all stages of development help ensure that any potential issues are identified and caught as early as possible.
πΆ π€°π€±Many of the reflexes develop whilst babies are in utero - pre-natal chiropractic care is about a MUCH bigger picture than "just" pelvic girdle pain or low back issues (although, we chiropractors are pretty good at that too!)
πΆ The techniques we use for babies and children are very gentle, often using finger-light touch.
π€°π€± We also use modified pregnancy chiropractic techniques, and have special cushions to help optimise your comfort.

What an absolute Wonder Woman she is. So motivated and dedicated, when she puts her mind to something she smashes it every time π« π₯ π₯ π₯
Friend of the clinic, Kris McKeown - Doula is hosting a fabulous 4 week course, starting tomorrow, at Yoga at the reach - please see the original post for details of how to book (deadline to join is 5pm Thursday 14th)
The course focuses on emotional and mental health for new mothers/birth parents whose babies are under 1 year old.
Please check it out/forward to someone you know if you feel they would benefit!
Last chance today to sign up to Babybrain, which is starting tomorrow! I'm closing bookings at 5 this afternoon, so I have time to prep things for tomorrow morning 10am at Yoga at the Reach on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield.
It's going to run for four weeks, Friday 15th and 22nd March, a break for Good Friday, then 5th and 12th April and it costs Β£39. If you'd like to come along, message me and let me know and I'll see you tomorrow!
If you can't make this block, but you'd like to join the next one, that one will be starting on Friday 19th April, so feel free to message me and let me know.
Over the four weeks, I'll be sharing some of the reasons the transition to being a parent can be so hard (spolier alert: it's not your fault!) and sharing some gentle techniques to help feel generally calmer, sleep better, feel more confident in your parenting and feel a bit more like you.
It's aimed at mothers/birth parents who've carried, given birth to and are currently the primary caregiver for their baby, as many of the challenges can be hormonal, societal and relational and it's these experiences that I'll be speaking to.
I have other things brewing, that will include partners/support people, but this is where I'm starting for now.

This afternoon, we had a very special visitor!
Sarah was visited today in clinic by her gorgeous grandson Finley, who also came in for a session with Kate.
Those in the know will know that Finley had a very early and challenging start to his arrival Earth-side - we are pleased to say that he's now thriving and doing very well! Isn't he an absolute cutie?
Hearts π β₯οΈ π all over the place! Including cute little chocolate ones to all visiting clinic today! Happy Valentines π
Now that I have your attention, did you know:
1. β€ Females are twice as likely to die of coronary disease, the main cause of heart attack, as breast c@ncer in the UK
2. β€ 3.6 million females are living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK
3. β€ Young women are more likely to die following a heart attack than young men
Women with coronary vessel disease (CVD) are under-diagnosed and under-treated due to misconceptions and lack of awareness among both patients and doctors...
High blood pressure is the number one risk factor for CVD in women... when was the last time you got your blood pressure checked?

The MOBO Awards have arrived in Sheffield!
β Notification of road closure and parking restrictions
β‘οΈ Due to our prestigious location in Sheffield City Centre, from time to time, events hosted by our fab neighbours sometimes result in a little disruption on our doorway.
π Vehicular access and parking is restricted due to the closure of Leadmill Road from 6am on Wednesday 7th February.
PARKING πππThe best place to park is in DFS/Wren carpark (sat nav S2 4AL), we're literally just across the road, on the corner of Leadmill Road and Fornham Street.
π€ πΆββοΈAccess by foot remains possible! If you're coming by bus, tram, train or on foot, access to the clinic is via Fornham Street.
Business as usual! Isn't Sheffield super?
πββοΈ Please join us in giving a huge, epic CONGRATULATIONS to the fantastic in celebration of her participation and completion in Challenger South endurance event earlier this month (January 2024)
πββοΈ The Challenger South is a gruelling 108 mile ultramarathon, and had been on Liz' bucket list for a fair while. It has been an utter privilege to help Liz prepare her body for the task, involving backpack kit checks, prehabilitation and conditioning work, and of course, the trusty chiropractic adjustment!
πββοΈ Liz popped in a couple of weeks ago for her post race physical assessment, and to show off her hard earned and rather splendid medalπ
. I am pleased to report that her body coped remarkably well with the superhuman feat and strains placed on it - preparation is key!
πββοΈ To fit in training schedules between work, wife-ing and mummy-ing is no mean feat.
πββοΈ So, HIP HIP! HOORAY! To Liz, one of the most inspirational female athletes with whom I've had the honour of working
(Also, if you're inspired and looking for a running coach, Liz can help you, regardless of whether you're considering couch to 5k or something a little longer!)

We're mid 'Twixtmas break - what have you been up to?
Normally, I'd be using the opportunity to catch up on online learning, the emails, the admin... 2023 has been a challenging year in so many ways, and this break, I've made a conscious effort to step back, give my brain a break and work on "antiperfectionism". It doesn't come naturally to me...
So, I splashed out on some watercolour paints and brushes and took part (for very, very modest fee) in a class with (Sheffield based, highly recommend!) .
The aim is to have no aim other than enjoyment, to help with the retraining of my stressed out and hypervigilant brain, to get my brain hemispheres working together more cohesively and in a more sustainable way. To learn that "not being perfect" IS, in fact, perfectly perfect. Neuroplasticity at its best.
The 1st picture was my 1st attempt (the bottom picture was my mother's attempt). The 2nd picture, my second, compared directly to the 1st.
They are definitely imperfect. Perfectly and purposefully antiperfect.
Don't worry, I'm not giving up the day job. I'll be back at that on 3rd January (all calls and emails will be replied to in order of receipt, and there will be a few more emergency slots opened up to accommodate tweaked necks and backs closer to the time)
Enjoy the rest of your celebrations and rest.
Yours, antiperfectly,
Libby
π π π TRAFFIC! PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT JOURNEY TIME
It's getting a bit crazy out there!
Please remember to allow extra time for your journeys, regardless of whether it is to come and see us, or attend other appointments and commitments!
There are multiple roadworks in the region, particularly along the M1 corridor.
Sheffield ring road is also particularly busy at the moment. Whilst we understand that "traffic happens", it is having a MAJOR impact on the services delivered within the clinic.
β° π If you arrive late, we may NOT be able to "just squeeze you in"... squeezing has more of an impact than you may realise... chiropractors miss lunch, subsequent clients are held up in their day... the knock on effects can be profound...
..so please check the traffic on your journey in good time before you set off.
π§ Take care out there, it's incredibly slippery!
If you do somehow come a cropper, or want a pre-holiday tune up, you know who to call! (And no, it's not the Ghostbusters!)
π·: View over fields near Rotherham this morning. Back roads are treacherous, not the wisest travel choice, but certainly the prettiest!
Libby has just spent the past 3 days on a chiropractic technique weekend with - learning about the nuances of tonal adjusting.
π Level 1 workshop in September = profound positive effect on body connectivity, healing and energy.
π Level 2 experience = Completely transformational!
π Tonal adjusting doesn't involve your typical "pops and clicks" that you see on some social media and video channels. It is one of the most gentle forms of chiropractic care available!
π This form of tonal adjusting is one of about 300 chiropractic techniques
π I will be introducing this form of care steadily into my clinic protocols.
π Tonal techniques are gentle AND incredibly effective, and are suitable for people of all ages and stages. You're never too young or too old to express your maximum possible health!
π Tonal adjusting is incredibly effective at bringing the nervous system back into balance, which is often most needed in the run up to the festive period π
π whether you're interested in this technique, or the others that are provided at the clinic, appointments between now and January are in VERY high demand.
No, we're not "just saying it"...
π± 0114 272 4466 to book!
Is it bone?
Is it joint?
Is it nerve?
Is it muscle?
the answer.... a resounding "YES!!!"
.. it's ALL connected!

Every year, UK Chiropractors have to complete CPD (continuous professional development) - this cycle runs from September to August, and it's never too early in the academic year to kick off the process and dust off the grey matter!
My 1st course completed this year is Burrell Education "Pelvic Flow and Freedom" - because I am a !
Year after year, I find that getting the CPD started early in the year helps reduce my bad stress levels - which helps my - which positively impacts my health and capacity to serve. Poignantly, there are plenty of techniques which are covered within this course - nervous system down-training is hugely undervalued and undertaught in a clinical setting. If you're a clinician, I thoroughly recommend.
π₯³ We're getting a long overdue face-lift!
π Years in the waiting, building management have finally implemented a programme of maintenance - and the scaffolding is up!
Full access to the clinic is possible, though we're a little hidden - it's business as usual and we are still OPEN!
π¨ AND... the graffiti has gone from the windows (Well, for the time being at least, we're pretty sure we'll have to get the rags and cleaning products out again at some stage π - the joys of a ground floor city centre clinic...)
Cause for celebrations! πΎ β¨
Chiropractic can help restore the balance of the nervous system.
When the nervous system is balanced, the body's inborn capacity for healing is released. We cannot heal in a persitently stressed state (stress hormones are catabolic)
If you're in need of a little rebalancing, give us a shout before the Autumn rush.
The chances are, the longer you leave it, the more it'll take!
Prioritise YOU!
Introducing and welcoming Charlotte, who is one of the lovely people helping Libby and Kate with front desk duties this summer π
Please give her a warm welcome π

300m RRP Β£20.50 (and if that's not a bargain, I don't know what is!)
If you'd like one set aside, please let us know!
Please, please - help US to help YOU!
A friendly reminder of our 24 hour cancellation/reschedule policy :
- despite reminder texts and emails, we've had an increasing number of people "forget" their booked sessions. To the point where, as a small business, it's unsustainable and - quite frankly - unacceptable.
It is HIGHLY frustrating to run a waitlist most days and have to turn away people in pain and in need, for other people to simply choose to not attend - leaving unused slots and denying people the care they desperately need and deserve. It means that we can't help serve to our fullest capacity.
We understand that emergencies come up -so we judge extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis. (ie if you're pregnant and going into labour, this is understandable, we're reasonable people!)
One day, YOU might need that emergency slot - and we'd LOVE to be able to offer it to you!
(please leave a voicemail at the weekend, all incoming messages are timestamped)
