I’m Hannie the founder of Mortgages with Hannie & Co an award-winning firm that’s all about making your dream of homeownership a reality. I started my journey in mortgages at the age of 17 when I didnt even know what a mortgage was! So safe to say my mind was fried when I began my career at a large building society and having to give guidance to people on mortgages 🤯
I worked my way up, working alongside some incredible inspiring people, which led me to start my own journey with my own firm nearly 4 years ago.
So now, I specialize in helping Millennials and Gen Z navigate the confusing world of mortgages that I felt. 🏡

The first step of buying your first home is the hardest, the deposit! The struggle of trying to save up for that daunting deposit.
But did you know, almost two-fifths (37%) of UK first-time buyers received their deposit as a gift or loan from a friend or family member (Source Uswitch)
There are so many different options when it comes to your deposit for your new home. Here are a few you can use if you dont have savings:
✨ Inheritance
✨ Gift from a family member
✨ Discount as the deposit if purchasing a property below market value usually from a close relative or landlord
✨ Landlord gifted deposit
✨ Builders deposit
✨ Personal loan
There is even a lender that doesn't require a deposit under their 100% mortgage range. Or if you have a small amount of savings, and not quite a full 5% there is a lender offering a '1%' deposit mortgage (minimum £5,000)

Overextending on a house can limit your ability to save for the future.
2. Don't rush! Evaluate your options - Rushing the house buying process can lead to costly mistakes and regrets. Taking your time to evaluate your options allows you to make a well-informed decision that you'll be happy with for years to come. By not rushing you can make informed decisions, understand the market more, explore different areas, get more of a feel for property, consider all the costs involved, and most importantly negotiate from a position of strength as things will move very quickly after the negotiation stage.

Today we’ve had another update from the Bank of England they are holding the base rate at 5.25% for at least another 6 weeks.
🤔 Why is that important? The Bank of England base rate, influences lending rates for banks and borrowers, impacting economic activity and inflation. Adjusted in response to economic conditions, it guides monetary policy goals such as inflation control and economic stimulation.
