Exciting news (again!)

Friends of Greatwood School are planning on putting on the inaugural Greatwood Beer Festival from probably around 5pm Friday 28th to 10pm Sunday 30th July 2023.

We have plans in action but the only way we could possibly run such a venture is with the help of volunteers such as you! We are therefore looking for people to commit themselves, as soon as possible, to helping us raise funds for the children of Greatwood School. No experience is necessary as we will have experts on-site at all times.

Can you please help pull pints or collect/wash glasses for a couple of hours? Various shifts are available, and some free beer will be allowed at the end of your shift. Other drinks such as wine/gin will most likely be available, as well as soft drinks for the kids, as this is going to be a family-friendly event.

Please bear in mind that this is run by volunteers for the children of Greatwood School, so if your kids are at the school (or even not) then please get involved as they are the ones who will benefit.

If you can help out then please send us a message on Facebook or text/Whatsapp your details to Steve on 07709743317 as soon as possible.

Thank you!

** IF WE DON'T GET ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS THEN THIS EVENT CANNOT GO AHEAD **

So then, folks. What delights has the Greatwood Easter Raffle got in store for you today?

As is common with local attractions, we pretty much all know about them but often haven't visited them. Today's prize has been very generously donated by the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, and is a Family Ticket for two adults and two children.

Drink in the nostalgia of sitting back in comfy seats on an old-time steam train, and travel all the way up the line and back again. With the railway being dog- and child-friendly (baby-changing facilities available at both stations), it is a great family trip out.

Why not make it a day out and take a picnic? Get on the classic steam train at Embsay, alight at Bolton Abbey and walk to the priory (1.5 miles). You can then get back on the train afterwards and return to Embsay.
