This month, Waitrose Crowborough celebrated its 50th birthday! 🎉

More than 70 Partners and retired Partners came together to celebrate in the branch’s café, where Branch Manager Matthew shared key moments from the last 50 years, including that he is only the fifth official branch manager in Waitrose Crowborough’s history.

“In 50 years a branch has rarely had only five permanent branch managers,” says Matthew, who coincidentally is also the town’s mayor. “I can testify that this is due to the great team of Partners who have previously and currently worked in the branch. Crowborough is a great place to work in.”

Partner Gina's anniversary cake was a showstopper. It featured the front of the building, different Waitrose fonts, and uniforms from years gone by. 😊💚

The anniversary wasn’t just for Partners – customer Wendy received a bunch of flowers as part of the celebrations, having visited the store on its opening day in 1974, on its anniversary and many times in between. 💐

"I met my husband at Waitrose Esher in the year 2000 when we both worked there! I asked him out on a date by the flower fixture 🌺 and the rest is history, we now have two teenage sons! He’s still at Esher and has worked there for 34 years! I worked at Esher for 8 years and have been at Cobham for 17 years. We really are a Waitrose family!"
