A good breeze on last weekend for the seven people who attended a revalidation or refresher of their Sailing Instructor qualification at WLYC - West Lancashire Yacht Club with Sailing Development Officer, Alan Jones.

Some course members had lapsed for nearly ten years, but were wanting to requalify
to help the many new club members with a Start Sailing course!

Team WLYC at the Topper World Championships 2024

Well done to Henry who represented Team WLYC at the Topper Worlds in Mar Menor in Spain this July. Boats from as far afield as China and Australia came to compete in top level racing in the amazing scenery of Spain. Henry finished 29th in Bronze fleet overall, with lots of learning and fun had thought out the week. Congratulations to the rest of the GB sailors who all had amazing results across all three fleets.

We join with SSC and the sailing community in wishing John a speedy recovery. ⛵

Yesterday's terrible tragedy in Hart Street deeply affects our members, friends and neighbours.

We are all profoundly shocked and it's difficult to absorb the distressing events which took place so close to us.

Our thoughts are with those personally affected as we await the outcome of the formal investigations.

Team WLYC are 2024 National Junior 12hr Race champions.

Well done to Team WLYC who claimed first place at the National Junior 12hr Race on 29th June. The juniors who took part also won 1st U18 team, 1st Placed Enterprise, the trophy for the fastest last two laps, and the trophy for the best results over the last three years.

Thank you to Southport Sailing Club for hosting a great event and to all the other competitors who made for some great racing. The team are looking forward to next year.

The Seabird 125 year anniversary race on the Mersey hosted on Saturday by Wallasey Yacht Club. A WLYC team (sail #8 and #25) was invited to compete in recognition of the Seabird Half Rater class being founded by WLYC members. Thanks to the Seabird Association and Wallasey Yacht Club!

West Lancashire endurance teams winning first silverware of the year in S2S race at Pennington Flash, under burgee of Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club

We'll be there!

The countdown is on to the first endurance race of the season. This Saturday 8th June Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club will be running their annual Sunrise to Sunset Challenge.

The club will be open from lunchtime on the Friday with an idea of what to expect below 👇

Lunchtime - come down early to get a good camping spot and go for a practice sail! ⛵️
From 6pm - on water games for juniors/youth (big kids welcome)
7pm -Competitor briefing
7.20pm -Commodores drink reception - free drink for all competitors 🍻
7.30pm -BBQ
7.30pm onwards- Clubhouse bar games
And don’t forget, FREE CAMPING ⛺️
