Hi all, I am sorry to announce that I'm taking a break from baking for the foreseeable future. It has become unsustainable financially and physically to keep going on my own.

I love cooking of all kinds and have really enjoyed getting to know my customers, market traders and organisers. It wasn't the easiest time to start a business at the end of 2019 and the challenges keep on coming with ingredients prices and utility bills increasing at such a rate. The butter I use has doubled in price in just over a year, but I can't keep putting up my prices. Understandably, there is only so much people will pay for a scone!

Last year I sold 93 different gluten free products, that's a lot of recipe development! I sold over 1000 cheese scones! I'm really proud of what I've achieved.

It is really sad to let it go, but I've been offered a good job that means I won't be up until 2am working for much less than minimum wage. I worked three hours this week for the grand sum of £1.40! Working in the food business is very tough, so please continue to support the farmers markets when you can.

All the very best and many, many thanks to my regular customers and everyone who has liked a post, written a review, bought a sausage roll or given me a spot at a market. Hopefully it isn't the end, but for now the apron is packed away.

You said what Pointless??!! Load of rubbish in case anyone is about to go shopping for any of these! Very misleading indeed. None of these are gluten free unless made specially gluten free.

(Coeliac UK Perhaps one to follow up? I have sent in my complaint to the BBC.)

Photo: This was a dessert I made over Christmas, based on the Jane's Patisserie recipe for Millionaire's Trifle, but I used my own gluten free yule log recipe, shortbread recipe and brownies. It was pretty special! 😍 (hence the waistline 🤣)

I hope Caroline had a wonderful birthday yesterday! It was lovely to make a cake for someone with a birthday on Christmas Day for the whole family to enjoy together despite it being gluten and dairy free. 😊 It was a rich chocolate cake.

Hi Everyone,

Orders can be collected between 9.30am and 6pm tomorrow. I have previously sent my address to those collecting, but let me know if you need it again.

For people expecting a delivery, I will be in touch tomorrow to arrange a time with you, or please send me a message to let me know when you'll be at home and I'll try to work out a route that works for people. Matt and I will juggle deliveries and make sure there is someone home for collections!

A cake for a birthday celebration last weekend. Evie's hobby is flyball with her beautiful cocker spaniel, who is actually the spitting image of my cocker spaniel!

I'm baking 24/7 this week to get everyone's Christmas orders ready, excuse the radio silence! 😄

Well, what can I say! Hadleigh, thank you so much for turning out in your droves to visit the Christmas market tonight. It's been a really tough few months for market traders, but tonight has been brilliant and all the traders I've come to know were feeling the warmth of it (although maybe not in their toes! 🥶)

This is what it means to support small, local businesses. It makes a very real difference to the individuals that put their heart and soul into their work, as well as their blood, sweat and tears (metaphorically!). It means they get to go home and tell their families that they did well this week. All the work was worth it.

I compare market selling of food to putting your entire weekly pay on a horse and just hoping it comes in. This week it was a winner, and as a family we appreciate that no end. I get paid this week! Just look at the smiles on the sellers faces and you'll see how much it means.

Matt and I loved seeing so many familiar faces, as well as meeting new customers. That wonderful thing kept happening tonight, when a customer says 'do you have anything gluten free?' Their faces when I say 'yup, everything' is so great. I know the feeling of finding something new myself, so love to be able to give that to others.

The first batch of mince pies are out the oven and I'm now working on some chocolate crunch cookies, all ready for Hadleigh Christmas market tomorrow night. It's 3pm - 8pm. I'll be opposite the Royal Bengal. Hope to see lots of people as it was a really great festive event last year.

Hi Everyone, I won't be able to go to Boxford Market on Sunday 11th December, so my last market this year will be this Saturday at the Hadleigh Christmas event, 3 - 8pm. It should be a great atmosphere. Last year was brilliant fun!

And a reminder that today is the last day (30/11/22) for Christmas orders to be placed and paid for.

You may be wondering why the cut off date is so early. Quite simply, my small business doesn't have the cash flow at the moment to buy ingredients unless I have an order. With the price of key ingredients like butter and sausagemeat increasing at such a rate, and receiving less orders and much lower footfall at markets due to people needing to be careful and save (understandably - me too!), it really has been a very tricky time to be in business.

Hi, Just a reminder that I'll be at the Beauty Cave in Long Melford on Friday night with gluten free sausage rolls, cakes, biscuits and cheese scones etc, along with some other local small businesses. 6 - 9pm this Friday!

I have had it confirmed recently by the Suffolk Trading Standards laboratory that my products are gluten free, meaning gluten is not detectable at 20ppm, therefore my baking is safe for coeliacs. I'd carried out my own tests and risk assessments before and knew this to be true, but it's great to have the help and support of Suffolk Trading Standards. 🙂
