FISCUS is delighted to announce some fantastic news!

Our Charity, FISCUS, has been awarded 5-year grant funding through the Improving Lives Through Advice (ILTA) Grant Programme!

I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU👏🥰⭐️to our funders and to our fantastic FISCUS Team of staff and volunteers who have worked incredibly hard to achieve this!! ILTA will help us to increase, sustain and improve the quality of our community advice and will support all areas of our Advice & Crisis work over the next 5 years!

ILTA is a five-year funding programme delivered by The Access to Justice Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund. It is designed to support the delivery of free legal advice to marginalised people and communities across England. Thank you to National Lottery players for making this possible.

They have a fantastic project which will take your unwanted bike and recycle 🚲it bringing it back to good as new to give out to people who are in need! UPDATE we are now adding bigger items to this Urgent SHOUT OUT!! Sofa, washing machine, fridge or fridge freezer, cooker or air fryer (we have already supplied a new slow cooker) Lamps, pictures, pans, towels, coffee table and small household items needed to make an empty home a proper home. We have a family in severe crisis with a young child who are in private accommodation and only have beds and bedding. FISCUS is arranging food and emergency essentials and some household items today. We are also working with statutory agencies but this will be the fastest way of getting this family much needed support if anyone can help THANK YOU 🙏 # # #

Bale of Straw and Manure!!! Can anyone help?
Our community garden needs some TLC and our new volunteers need a bale of straw and manure to get the raised beds ready for planting and the and strawberry beds protected.
Does anyone know where we can obtain manure and a bale of straw thanks? If you can point us in the right direction that would be really helpful thanks! 🥰

Our next FREE cat microchipping event is booked!!

Thanks to an incredibly kind donation, we are extending our Sunderland-based microchipping events.

We are returning to the wonderful team at FISCUS in Hendon (SR2 8AH), and the event will be open to cat-owners on means-tested benefits / low income.

This is a drop-in event running from 10am to 4pm, and all attendees will be asked to fill in a registration form while they wait. Please contact us in advance if you have any questions.

As this is a drop-in event, we cannot guarantee specific time slots, and last admittance will be at 3:45pm.

Every day is different at our Charity, FISCUS. We see a lot of sadness, hardship even fear, so many emotions for many different reasons. We don’t often share personal stories but here’s a snippet of one from today. Today we got a lovely hug and a huge thank you from a very vulnerable young lady. She said she likes coming to FISCUS because she feels safe and comfortable and everyone is kind and treats her well. She left smiling with all the essential things she needed. Thanks to one regular supporter who donated £100 to our crisis fund we bought her a new outfit and gave them to her along with lovely items from our Recycle Boutique Clothes Bank. Her jacket was ripped so we helped her select a fantastic designer-label coat that looked brand new and fitted her like a glove. She looked like a million dollars and was over the moon thanks to the generosity of people who donate their lovely clothing to our Charity. # # #

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! Your spare and unwanted clothing can clothe someone else who needs them. People referred to our crisis clothing service often only have the outfits they are wearing due to homelessness and fleeing domestic abuse situations. Every single item helps THANKYOU🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

We are focussing on our Children's Christmas Gift Appeal 2023 to enable us to provide gifts to hundreds of children and young people of all ages to have presents to open on Christmas Day!

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS!!!! Today we delivered some of the first Christmas gifts from FISCUS donated by all of our fabulous supporters to make sure cared for and looked after teenage children have some lovely Christmas present surprises to open on Christmas Day!
