Creative Yoga: Yoga practice with depth. My speciality is "The yoga poses and their inner meanings". It is very calming, focused and active at the same time.
I have trained with the German spiritual teacher Heinz Grill who regards each pose as a gesture which expresses life's deep truths. Thus the yoga practice becomes a form of artistic expression. CLASSES IN SOMERSET UK:

🆕Alternating tension and relaxation, 30min yoga class
A short pause to really relax before we begin a movement helps us to tense the muscles more efficiently. Likewise, a strong, focused muscular contraction can help us to relax better afterwards. In this cycle we work at building up a rhythm of alternate tension and relaxation. Poses include: The sun prayer - surya namaskar, the locust - salabhasana, the cobra - bhujangasana and the bow-dhanurasana.

In its soul meaning, the triangle expresses the quality of expansiveness. This quality can come to expression when the person practising is able to think an appropriate thought while practising. In the before photo, Vicky is focusing on stretching a far as she can, In the after photo, taken 4 weeks later, she is thinking about combining physical activity with infinity. The body seems to be streaming out into infinite space and the mental focus is clearly visible in her face.

Our yoga teacher training programme is based on the ‘New Yoga Will’ founded by Heinz Grill. In this new approach we explore the inner meanings of the yoga poses and develop our own individual feeling for the wisdom and harmony that lies at their heart. We learn to give creative expression to our experiences through an active and aesthetic practice.
The course enables you to develop a real and deep understanding of the yoga poses and chakras in their inner meanings. You will learn how to shape the poses in a thorough and detailed way, out of a clear, creative consciousness giving them more depth and expression.

When the asanas are practised with a clear thought they acquire a clear form. Ellie is naturally very flexible. However, in these before and after photos, taken 4 weeks apart, you can see how, through learning what to think about while doing the pose, she has become able to bring a clear form into the movement. A calm concentration is also visible.

The triangle is a pose which, if done correctly, can encourage expansive and free breath. However, if the body is not well articulated into different parts the breath can easily become constricted. In these before and after photos, taken 4 weeks apart, you can see how Anna at first was holding tension in her shoulders. It is easy to imagine that it would be hard to breath freely. In the second picture she has widened the legs a little to give more stability and she has allowed space around the shoulders and neck. We can imagine how the breath is now given space.
A spiritual book will hold a deep meaning that is not usually noticed at a first glance. With Heinz Grill’s books this applies not only to the words but also to the pictures. On the new yoga intensive course, which has just recently started, we practised ‘really looking’. This is the picture we looked at; it is in the book “A New Yoga Will - A cycle of exercises to Promote Individual Strength”, in the chapter on the triangle, trikonasana.
I chose this picture because at a first glance the position looks so straightforward that one might wonder why we need a picture of it at all. So we spent about 5 minutes in all, looking carefully at the feet, then the legs, the pelvis, the abdomen, chest, shoulders, arms and hands, then the neck, face and head. The course participants were astonished at how much they then saw. I won’t tell you what – but you can try it out for yourself. Then practice the position afterwards, putting into place exactly what you have seen.

My aim was that participants should learn how to grow from the solar plexus centre and at the same time remain light and free in the upper parts of the body. It certainly appeared to me that great progress was achieved in this regard during the brief half hour class.
We have had some lovely chats with interested visitors during the show, some have bought books, attended my class, and I do hope to see some of the people we met at my retreat in January.
Thank you to everyone who came to say hello! It has been a very full experience - both attending other classes, trying some exotic foods and teas, and meeting some very friendly and interesting people!

These before and after pictures, taken four weeks apart, show how the articulation has improved in the pose. Hazel does not yet come vary far over with her body, but in the after photo you can see that she is more active in her middle, while her head and top hand are much more relaxed. The triangle is a pose in which the body should be clearly ‘articulated’. That means that different parts of the body display different qualities. In Hazel’s pictures we can see how this clear articulation has helped her to come farther into the pose.
Lizzie Williams from Swathed has been busy building our stand out of cedar wood for the OM Yoga Show.
These pictures, show her initial design, followed by stages of construction in her workshop. But seeing it in real life is something else.
Walking under the blue arches gives the feeling of being inside and yet looking out into space at the same time. I can't wait to see it up and erected in Ali Pali Alexandra Palace and set up with a whole display of books.

For the last month we have been working on the triangle, understanding how to practice it correctly, and also, in particular to express the inner meaning of this pose in our practice. There will now follow a series of “before and after” photos in which some astonishingly clear differences can be seen. The after photos were taken 4 weeks after the before photos.
This first set shows Clare. She could already come quite far into the pose. However in the after photo she comes significantly farther. She has become more active in her middle, yet at the same time she appears calmer and freer in her arms and head. The triangle should combine firmness in the legs, activity in the middle and freedom around the head.
