Powerhoop with Dianne Taunton
Powerhoop is a fitness class with a twist! A 45 minute full body workout using a larger weighted hoop
Wow! Thank you all for joining in the fun 🤩 on such a hot 🥵 one too! 🫠
A big shout out to Stan, our first ever chappie attending class. I’m pleased to say he had a blast 💥 with us all.
By the time I’d remembered to take pic, you’d all left 😜
However, we were all so hot & sweaty I’m sure you were glad about that 🤪😂
Another Powerhoop Hooping Hero from Powerhoop with Dianne Taunton. I love this pic of you and your Mum in my garden. My very own dynamic hooping duo, way to go Carol. You look good on hooping ;-)💜😉🫶💪💪
💜⭕️💥Hooping Heroes💜⭕️💥
Each week, we'll be shining the spotlight on a remarkable member of the community, sharing their unique stories, skills, and passion for Powerhooping.
This week in our Hooping Heroes spotlight is Carol who attends Dianne Trower’s classes in Taunton, Somerset and she kindly agreed to answer our questions.
❓Hi Carol, can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your background?
💜 My name is Carol, I’m 55 and I’ve been into sport/fitness since school. I played hockey, tennis and my real love - badminton, which I carried on at club level after leaving school. Over the years I have tried different fitness clubs - aerobics, water aerobics, yoga etc. I would start classes for a 6-12 months then I would find classes would stop or I fall out of love with it.
❓How long in total have you been Powerhooping?
💜 I have been Powerhooping for around 10 years. I did stop for a while due to work and then found Dianne had moved location and also moved the class to another evening, which fitted my schedule better.
❓What initially motivated you to start Powerhoop?
💜 I had seen it on Facebook and thought it looked like a good all round fitness option, as it talked about an all over body workout.
❓ How often do you hoop?
💜 I try to hoop at least 3 times a week: once in the class and twice at home for about 15 mins.
❓What challenges did you face when you first started?
💜 Keeping the hoop up, as most people find it.
❓What’s been your most significant achievement in Powerhooping so far?
💜That is easy for me - it would be completing Macmillan July Hooping challenge in 2022 with my mum Barbara and our instructor Dianne. We raised loads of money for a great charity!
❓Are there any specific milestones or goals that you’re working towards?
💜 Staying fit and mobile and keeping my weight steady after going through the menopause.
❓What do you like most about your powerhoop classes?
💜 The all-round fitness and having fun while meeting a great group of ladies. And of course our knowledgeable and supportive instructor Dianne Trower.
❓What advice would you give to someone who has just started their powerhoop journey?
💜 We all have had struggles keeping the hoop up. Don’t give up you will get there and see all the benefits that Powerhooping gives you while having fun.
❓Do you have any tips for staying motivated and consistent?
💜 Persevere and you will see what fun Powerhooping is! Also you will see changes in your body as you get more confident with it.
❓Lastly, tell us a fun fact about yourself that others might not know?
💜 I am really into motorsports. I have been to France to watch 24hr Motorcycle Race and every year I help with the Weston Beach endurance race. I have been to Goodwood festival of speed and Revival several times. I also marshal for my nephew at his motocross group.
💜⭕️💥A big thank you to our very own speed demon, Carol! Let’s show her some love from the !

Have you been watching the Olympics?
These athletes are so determined and train so hard. I admire their dedication and commitment to their training. How they push themselves, the perseverance.
Powerhoop maynot be an Olympic Sport. However, we need to keep practising and attending classes to celebrate the wins of hooping in class.
You are all Gold Medal winners in my eyes. You show up, even on the hottest of days and workout 🥇🥇🥇⭕️⭕️⭕️⭕️⭕️ Keeping that hoop spinning 💜⭕️💥

This week, meet Barbara Parsons who attends Dianne Trowers’s classes. At 75 years old, she’s an inspiration to us all!

❓Barbara, please can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background?
💜 I am 75 years old, been married to Graham for 55 years. Mum of 2 children. Carol our daughter, 55 years old and Neil 52 years old. We have 1 Grandson, Flynn, 16 years old. I like to keep active. I have done Tai Chi. Ballroom dancing for 14 years, I line dance and belong to 2 walking groups.
❓How long have you been Powerhooping?
💜For 6 years, with our lovely trainer Dianne Trower.
❓What motivated you to start Powerhooping?
💜 My daughter Carol! She knew I was looking for a fitness class and suggested I go and have a try because it had all my favourite things - fitness, fun and music!
❓How often do you hoop?
💜 I try to hoop at least twice a week. More often when I am getting ready for a holiday!
❓What challenges did you face when you started?
💜 Keeping the hoop up and not looking silly 😂
❓What’s your most significant Powerhooping achievement?
💜 Doing the Macmillan Cancer Challenge in 2022 with my daughter Carol and Dianne. We hooped for 31 days, 15 mins a day. We lost inches on our waist and hips and raised lots of money for a good cause.
❓Do you have any goals you’re working towards?
💜 I want to stay fit as I get older. I hope to be hooping when I am 80 years old.
❓What do you love most about your Powerhoop classes?
💜 The feeling of friendship when you walk in the class. The fun and laughter we have doing our hooping. Feeling good but tired when we finish. And all going home with a smile on our faces 😊
❓What advice would you give to new Powerhoopers?
💜 We all started at the same level. We all dropped the hoop many time so don’t worry if it takes a while you will get there!
❓Tips for staying motivated and consistent?
💜 Life is short so enjoy. Have fun and stay fit!
❓Fun fact about yourself?
💜 I have a full motorcycle license and I had a Lambretta scooter in 1964 but I wasn’t allowed to be a MOD!

This week, meet Esther White - Powerhoop Boss and Golden Goose Fitness owner and Hooping Hero - you’ll no doubt by inspired her journey!
——————————————————————————
❓Esther, can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background?
💜I became a Powerhoop Instructor in 2015, then a master trainer and stage presenter. Now, I lead our global instructor team and drive the growth of Powerhoop fitness.
❓How long have you been Powerhooping?
💜Almost 10 years since 2015!
❓What motivated you to start Powerhooping?
💜As a fitness instructor, I saw an ad for Powerhoop and knew it would be a great addition to my class schedule. It truly delivers what it sets out to - a strong core and so much more!
❓How often do you hoop?
💜I teach 8 classes a week and I hoop another 3-4 times a week when I’m training at the gym, for up to 7 minutes on each side.
❓What challenges did you face when you started?
💜The biggest challenge was keeping the hoop up! Our front-to-back technique is key and really works!
❓What’s your most significant Powerhooping achievement?
💜While I love stage events, my biggest achievement is seeing the progress from week to week with my lovely hoopers in all my classes.
❓Do you have any goals you’re working towards?
💜I aim to keep my classes top-notch and fun. Personally, I enjoy setting myself little challenges like hooping on one leg!
❓What do you love most about your Powerhoop classes?
💜The mix of people of different ages and goals, and the strong sense of community and fun we share.
❓What advice would you give to new Powerhoopers?
💜Don’t give up! Dropping the hoop is normal. Patience and practice with our technique will lead to perfection, I promise 😊
❓Tips for staying motivated and consistent?
💜Bring a friend to class, and hoop at home—like in front of the TV or while waiting for the washer to finish. Make it a habit!
❓Fun fact about yourself?
💜I speak Spanish and German and even teach Spanish classes in my spare time! Adiós!

All the best,
This is such an important topic: regular activity can have an incredibly positive impact on our everyday lives
Movement is important for our mental health. But it's not as simple as: 'the more I move, the better I feel'.
While physical activity releases 'feel good' hormones, there's much more to it than this.
Taking part in activities we enjoy and are fun can help us get more of the mental health benefits of movement. We also know that nature and social connection are good for our mental health - so getting active with others and getting outdoors can also give us more benefits.
We'd love to hear about your experiences of movement. How does movement affect your mental health? Are there certain activities that boost your wellbeing?

All these May Bank Holidays have thrown me!
I seem to have forgotten to post on my Socials 🫣🫣
However, I have not forgotten you and our Powerhoop Monday workout.
Monday 6.30pm
I have a couple of Eurovision tracks for our class tonight - Upper body toning to Ollie Alexanders/Dizzy (unfortunately I do not own a cod piece) 😂
Also a hoop track to May Mullers/I wrote a Song
I think we should make class theme of Eurovision songs for next year, get those requests in now ;-)
Q: Why do we use a Powerhoop Deluxe in class?
A: It's the worlds most advanced weighted fitness hoop!
It's an award winning weighted hoop with adjustable weights to tailor your workout, matched to your ability and fitness level.
The larger diameter and weight collectively helps with your hooping technique, keeping it spinning around your waist, enhancing your core workout further.

Funfitness in the community
Hi, my name is Dianne and I have been teaching fitness classes since 1995! I first started teaching when I lived in Basildon, Essex and then moved to beautiful Cornwall where I ran my community classes for over 10 years. My husbands work has taken us from county to county and here we are in Taunton Somerset. I love my job and I am very passionate about what I do and helping people move and enjoy exercise. Fitness should be fun and about celebrating what your amazing body can do, not what it can’t do! I have taught various types of classes from Step, Zumba, Les Mills Body Combat, Body Jam & Body Balance, Aqua, Fitness Pilates, Pilates, PureStretch, Powerhoop, Beamfit and Barre Pilates Method to name but a few. I currently teach Powerhoop, Pilates and Beamfit classes in the community, Bathpool, Cheddon Fitzpaine and Taunton.
