Tops Day Nurseries: Taunton Musgrove

This week preschool have become fascinated by the different flowers in the garden. We have spoke about how they grow, and learnt lots of new words such as roots and petal.

Today we went on a flower hunt, we walked around our local environment to see what flowers we could find. On our trip we spotted the park and stopped to have a turn on the equipment. Finally when we got back we concentrated on making our own flower pictures to take home. 🌸🌼

This week during our cooking classes with Helen the Hi 5's have made their own spring rolls. The children enjoyed chopping and tasting the vegetables before adding them onto the filo pastry.

This morning The Nest have been exploring the local community. We first stopped of at the library before having a nature trail in vivary Park.

Today in Investigators we have been on a bug hunt, we used the magnifying glasses to search for the different bugs and insects. We were able to identify a fly, spider and Ladybird.
We used the bug detective book to look at pictures of worms and other insects and bugs and we spoke about where the insects live. Lastly we used the spider to sing 'Incy Winch Spider'

This week the Hi 5 children had fun at St George's Care Home. We enjoyed playing a game with the staff and residents. We took turns to throw a bean bag through the different colour olympic rings. We wrote a tally to work out who was the winner.

The Explorers have recently been exploring ice play whilst we have enjoyed some nice weather. The children enjoyed using spoons to transport ice cubes to different silverware. The staff discussed the ice melting in the heat and the children then enjoyed splashing in the water.

Today preschool have shown an interest in the story Elmer and the race. We listened to the story and then had our own races in the garden.

We spoke about the Olympic Games that are taking place in Paris. The children found it fascinating that we can have races in so many different ways. We are looking forward to learning more about races and the Olympics during the week

Today the Nest have enjoyed exploring with the paints. We used paint brushes, out hands and leaves to create different marks.

This morning Preschool and Hi'5s took a trip on the bus to visit the local library. We enjoyed exploring the library and chose different books to read and explored the interactive tablet.

Yesterday the Preschool 2 and high 5's children took a trip to the local park. We had lots of fun exploring the different resources.

We have had a lovely morning celebrating graduation with our 2024 leavers!

The Explorers have really enjoyed mark making using paint and playdough cutters. The children chose a shaped cutter and and the coloured paint they wanted to use before transporting this around the paper. The children used a range of different motions to create their marks.

This week the Nest have been exploring the cornflour and have been transporting it into our silver sensory jugs using the spoons to help our fine gross motor skills.

Last month we planted 160 trees with Ecologi, as part of our initiative to plant a tree for every enrolment. This brings our total amount of trees planted to 6,172🌳

Alongside our tree planting with Ecologi, we are also purchasing a carbon offset amount equal to the amount we produce as a company.
This month we have offset 4 tonnes of CO2eq. This brings our total offset amount to 95!

This week The Explorers have added a new wooden sorting board to their construction area and the children have really enjoyed exploring this. The children used their fine motor skills to navigate the different shapes onto the board together.

Today the Investigators celebrated 'World emoji day'. We look at all the different expressions of the emoji faces and then spoke about our feelings, read a feelings story and pulled faces in the mirrors. The children found them very interesting.

This week preschool have become eager to listen to two of our volcano stories. The children have been learning new words such as lava and erupt. We have enjoyed activities planned around our two new stories!

To celebrate the big butterfly count we went to the park. On the way we looked at the flowers and plants to see what other bugs we could find. You all really enjoyed freely exploring the park and discovering what you could climb.

Today the Explorers enjoyed a trip to the park. The children participated in getting ready by finding a sunhat and applying suncream. The children had lots of fun exploring all of the equipment at the park this morning.

Today preschool were very interested in some caterpillars that we found outside. We had a close look at them with magnifying glasses. They spoke about the patterns and colours.

The children became interested in the life cycle of a caterpillar, we have read the story "Hungry Caterpillar". We have been focusing on activities about caterpillars and butterflies throughout the day 🦋

This week the Explorers have enjoyed celebrating the Euros by engaging in football themed activities. The children enjoyed making England flags out of red and white playdough and also decorating their own footballs using mark making tools.

This week preschool have been learning about voting and talking about the importance of our votes. We have been voting for which activities we would like to do. The children enjoyed taking turns to post their vote. We then worked as a team to count the votes before taking part in the winning activity.

Over the weekend Tops Parkstone Celebrated their incredible Garden Re-opening. Thank you to the wonderful staff who worked hard to make a stimulating and exciting environment for our little ones. Also to the Deputy Mayor who attended and our lovely families who came to visit and join in on the fun.

A final congratulations to our competition winner Robin. Here he is with his prize, he spent a long time choosing a book but he ultimately decided on a Lilo and Stitch one, his favourite! Great choice Robin, happy reading. Stay tuned for future competitions coming soon, you won’t want to miss out
