Nikki has judged dressage at Horse Trials for 44 years. She has judged all over the world in her capacity as FEI L4 Ground Jury.
Nikki sees herself as a coach first and a judge second. She is BHSI certified, a professional BE, BD, PC, and NLP Coach, a list 2A BD and Para Judge, a UK Coach Educator & Assessor for several disciplines, and an Advanced Applied Psychology Mindset Coach. Nikki was the National Director of PC Training for 16 years and is now Chief Selector for U21 European Championship Teams.

In this workshop, Nikki will discuss horse welfare, the value of a happy athlete and a happy horse, the three phases of competition, and the judge's role. Nikki will explore the significance of The 6 Elements of The Training Scale.

This event is available to people of all ages and stages; it provides a friendly and open learning environment that welcomes everyone.

Libby’s career is in Equine Dentistry, starting her business in 2001. Member of BAEDT since 2017. Working with vet specialists to give clients the best service.

Libby specialises in the development of young horses, bringing them on slowly; to compete them to the highest levels. This journey makes her happy and proud. Libby also uses ridden work to support suppleness and strength.

Libby loves coaching people and bringing them into the sport of carriage driving. She owns ponies, which she works with to encourage participation, and to give opportunities to people who might not be able to invest in the sport fully.

Our Performance Training Hub Athletes were treated to a fabulous session yesterday evening from Sports Psychology and Performance Coach Charlie Unwin. It was a fabulous evening and everyone had different lightbulb moments when things resonated with them.

Kathryn Howard our Carriage Driving Coach kindly arranged for our athletes to join this incredible opportunity through her new coaching group Conscious Coaching and it was fabulous to see everyone process the information in their breakout groups. A fabulously inclusive event where everyone felt welcome.

Nikki Herbert:

Since 1980 Nikki has been judging dressage at horse trials, she enjoys working as part of a team in a variety of countries in her role as FEI L4 Ground Jury.

She judged the European Eventing Pony Championship at Bishop Burton in 2018 and also in Strzegom, 2019.

Nikki loves to travel, she has judged the J/YR North American Championship in Montana and various levels in Virginia, Florida, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia. In 2020 she judged the 5* in Pau and returned as President of the Ground Jury in 2023. She judges at many British events including the National Junior and Pony Championships, the 6yr old Championship at Le Lion d’Angers , the 5* at Luhmuhlen in 2022 and was President for the Junior European Championships in Montelebretti in 2023.

Nikki has coached and ridden in events since the 1970’s and continues to ride her own horses and follow her passion coaching and encouraging competition riders of all ages.

She holds the BHSI, is an Accredited BE, BD and PC and NLP Coach, a List 2A BD and Para Judge, UK Coach and PC A Test Assessor and Centre 10 Applied Psychology Advanced Coach.
Nikki was the National Director of PC Training for 16 years and she is now a selector for all the U21 GBR Dressage Teams and for the GBR Eventing European Cup CCI3* Team.

Living close to Burghley Horse Trials in the UK since 1982 with her husband, Philip, who is Clerk of the course at Burghley; they have two sons, Martin, an Engineer researching XC safety for BE and Guy, a XC course designer and builder. They now have five young grandchildren.

British Carriagedriving BC Level 3 coach Kathryn Howard has been named �Coach of the Year� by the renowned Centre 10, which helps coaches and riders to apply the fundamentals of performance psychology in everyday training and competition.

Kathryn Howard has been named 'Coach of the Year' by the renowned Centre 10, which helps coaches and riders to apply the fundamentals of performance psychology in everyday training and competition.
Kathryn was selected for the award by psychologist Charlie Unwin, founder of Centre 10.
Kathryn, who specialises in performance coaching, is an advanced professional accredited coach for both the The British Horse Society and British Carriagedriving. She also coaches and mentors for the Para Equestrian Foundation, donating her time and supporting para-equestrian athletes.

As an accomplished horse trainer, Kathryn is an advocate of the importance of time and patience when correctly developing the equine athlete.
She is an ambassador for women in sport, currently studying for an MSc in professional coaching with particular interest in, and current research on, female wellbeing in sport and menopause research.
This is in addition to teenage mentoring and youth mental health.

Kathryn specialises in a range of coaching areas including building communities of practice, one-to-one coaching and working with educational institutions.
Most recently, Kathryn has brought together a team of professionals to facilitate easily accessible, interactive online coaching sessions for all.

Presenting the award, Centre 10's Charlie Unwin said: "We can't help but be inspired by all Kathryn achieves, she is hugely respected by her peers, as well as clients, Kathryn has looked beyond her role as a coach and started to consider how she can be a force for good in the industry as a whole, the length and stretch of ambition is considerable and will make a difference. Lovely summer schooling.
This beautiful boy is in his 4th year with us. He teaches me to be quiet, to always listen and to be patient. I have learnt so much from so many kind horses. The growth and development of this young man has been the most informative personal education to date. He has taught me to lower my expectations and to raise my standards.
I’m am very proud of him indeed.
