Do you have some great ideas for a new future skatepark in Torpoint, we have a design competition for you to take part in, win prizes including skateboards and other skate / scoot accessories.

Categories for prizes include under 11s (boys and girls), 11-16s and over 16s... plus one for the the best art skills! Download and print the design sheet here and bring your final design to the Sun 29th Sept or Sun 27th Oct Torpoint Street Markets or email us a photo of completed design; [email protected]

Here are some 2002 vibes from the original skatepark with the original riders. This crew raised funds back then selling t-shirts and holding a competition and fun day. They managed to get the ramps resurfaced with better wood as they were getting worn from being used so much!

And some bigger prizes, including skateboards and Sky Brown knee pads, that you could win for taking away a design sheet and returning it to us with you creative vision for a new skatepark for Torpoint.

We’re also running a bit of a impromptu repair shop at the Torpoint Street Market on Sunday… come and get your skateboard / scooter tuned up (or at least some advice on what you need to do to get the perfect ride). And dig out any old skateboards and scooter parts that you might want to donate to future repair shop pop-ups!

Year 2001 and Torpoint gets itself a new skatepark… the energy of the young riders back then securing the new ramps!

Almost 25 years later we are ready to go again! We’re looking to build engagement for a new park, so everyone, young and old… give us a follow, share your skate, scoot, bmx pics and tell us your local wheeled sports stories.

We’ll be at this Sunday’s Torpoint Street Market (10-3) where we’ll have a new survey for people to contribute to thoughts on the skatepark a fun design ideas competition too!! Pop down!

Was my absolute pleasure to do a cry to help open the new Skate Park in Millbrook … So many people there enjoying it & it certainly wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of all the amazing people at !

What an amazing day at the Skate Jam at Millbrook Skatepark - thanks to all who have made this happen!! It’s amazing! Looking forward to linking up for advice to build a better space for skate and scooter in Torpoint! 😎

... and the after party too!

DONT FORGET the skate Jam with Maverick Skateparks and the after party is tomorrow and the weather is looking on point for the jam, with the after party looking like it’s going to be the party of year 🍺 🥳 🛹 don’t forget the The Brook club located at the Millbrook Football Club next to the skatepark will be open during the event and that’s the location of the after party, along with Pickle & Pit who will be doing food during the event and for the evening too, if you haven’t tried their food it’s amazing with buffalo wings, gourmet chicken burgers 🍔 and more.

There’s going to be so many prizes so make sure you show up 👌🏼

🎾 TENNIS COURTS IMPROVEMENTS UPDATES 🎾

The gate access system has now been fitted and the line painting works are being scheduled for the end of March/early April weather permitting.

Once the line painting works are complete, the posts and nets will be scheduled to be installed. Accessibility to the ‘top court’ is being improved, to ensure a manual wheelchair user can access both sides of this tennis court.

The online booking system is being developed and as soon as it is live the link will be shared here. A family can either purchase an annual membership for £35 per year or courts will be bookable for £6 per hour, maximum 6 hours per week.

Thank you to Devonport Royal Dockyard Sport & Social Club for their kind donation of £4,000 towards the tennis courts improvements.

A grand opening event is being planned for a Saturday in April, where members of the community and all those who have supported the improvements will be invited to attend. Friends of Thanckes Park (FoTP) has kindly offered to support this event.

Millbrook’s new Skatepark was looking amazing today! Congrats to everyone that made this happen! Hoping it inspires some new ramps in Torpoint in the near future too!! Start of our journey! 🙏 🛹 🛴
