Earlier this month of May 2024, Gavin, our co-founder and master jeweller travelled to Murnau, Germany to join the global institute partners of Osmium and the founding members for a week's symposium. He also witnessed the opening of the new Osmium HQ where many of Osmium creations including our very own collection are displayed.

Gavin and Lorraine are the state institure partners for the UK. This means, they are the hub of information fo all Osmium related queries, may it be as a tangible asset or as part of jewellery.

My name is Lorraine and I am the other half of The Diamond Setter. My role is to support Gavin in running the business so he can concentrate in the making and creating.

I have a BSc in business and my background was in the sales and marketing of luxury hotels and villas. When we launched The Diamond Setter, I enrolled with the Gemological Institute of America or GIA to become a jewellery professional. I continue to study the world of diamonds and gemstones including the sunshine element Osmium.

I absolutely love talking diamonds and gemstones and help my clients navigate the design experience.

It is always about people, they come first. And our role is to serve.

Most of the time, the skill required from a jeweller in repairs and restorations are greater than creating a new piece.

With new jewellery, it's like an empty canvas. You have room to express your ideas and intentions.

But with restoration and repairs, you must work around the jewellery. With meticulous approach including unsetting of the centre stone of this ring, repaired various cracks, rebuilt the shank and sent the jewellery for hallmarking at where the mix metal was recognised. (Can you tell what they are?)
