Just back from THE best few days in Edinburgh with a group of wonderful photographers. We swapped headshots, we did marketing, we shared stories, we laughed, ate and drank! I feel so happy to be part of such a lovely group.

It’s literally 1 week since we met IRL for the first time and we’ve set up a hub for our brand new retreat!

Exciting colourful plans are afoot!!! 🌈🌈🌈

Who’s in??

I went on holiday and came home with a whole lotta work to do! 😆

It’s clear to see that and I hit it off! We met up 3 times whilst I was in Dubai for 9 days with my family!!!

First she showed us around old dubai, we enjoyed finding all kinds of colour around the souks and afterwards came up with the idea of a retreat all about colourful photography, with photo walks, headshots, prisms and lots of creative fun!!!

We ended up meeting for dinner with our families the next day and brainstormed some more over a bottle of Prosecco 🍾

After called us a power duo and said we were the dream team you’ll never believe that I just happened upon these sparkly “Dream Team” t-shirts in a mall after our family trip to the desert on Friday! 😆

Obviously I had to buy them so naturally we had to have more cocktails and another joint family dinner on our last night so I could give it to her 😉🥂🍹

So today I have failed to unpack BUT we finalised on our name, set up Instagram, Facebook, website and email list! 📧

I never expected to find SO much colour in old Dubai!!!

I loved exploring with (who took that photo of me below for this collaborative diptych) and it got us thinking, especially after ’s comment about us being a power duo 💪🏼🌈🥰

So we’ve been pondering and getting excited about the prospect of a joint retreat.

We’re thinking a colourful photo walk, headshots by us for all participants, and you can ask us ANYTHING about our businesses.

Plus we love playing so we’ll include loads of creative tutorials with prisms, double exposures, you name it we’ve tried it!

We’re obviously in the very early stages of planning but would love to gauge your interest for this.

I’ve been wanting to try this shot for years. Literally!

Inspired by , I bought the float when it went in the sale but the twins were still too young and couldn’t yet swim without armbands/assistance.

I need more practice but we’ve reached the stage they can (happily) dive and swim underwater and can (sometimes reluctantly) take direction to let me try certain shots!

Given that I only use my GoPro and dome on holidays, it’s not too bad. I want to try more but don’t want to push it and alienate my whole family 😆

🤞🏻 I get to play more during this trip 😉

🌈What I’m loving this month🌈

📖 I read Perfume after a friend recommended the film. It’s such a great book, very creepy but interesting. I’m now waiting for the movie to appear on Netflix!

📺 Since I created this graphic I’ve become even more obsessed with Schitts Creek!

Late to the game I know, it took me a while to really get into it, just had it on in the background whilst editing for the occasional chuckle!

Series 3 onwards and I was hooked!

🌈 My opaque rainbow glass collection since I moved it to the living room, I gaze at the beautiful colours and shapes every day!

👗 I recently discovered one of my favourite illustrators has apparel and I HAD to get this awesome jumper! Even if it’s not technically winter anymore, I still need my cosy jumpers and I’m definitely a weirdo anyway! 😆

When I receive feedback like this it really does make my day!

Ashley is the first to admit that he’s awful in front of a camera.

He’d been resisting having his photo taken despite hating his current headshots but he knew how important it was and took the plunge.

I think he’s glad he did, even more so now he’s been Vogue approved! 😉

“I didn't know much about brand photography at all but having seen loads of Bex's work, I was very confident in her achieving a good result to replace my old, poor quality photos.

Despite not being particularly comfortable in front of a camera, this was dealt with, with sensitivity and fun.

I REALLY dislike having my photo taken but Bex was able to work through this, make it enjoyable and I am really happy with my photos.

I have had some amazing comments about them already.

Bex is very good at what she does. She doesn't take generic photos but creates something unique to set your business apart from others, a more personal insight into what you do and who you are.

It's really opened my eyes to the value of high quality brand photography.

Planning is such an important part of your brand shoot.

I can’t stress it enough, preparation is key.

I loved catching up with the gorgeous .eatonagain today, finding out all about the changes in her business since her last photoshoot with me 5 months ago.

We’ve outlined some new goals and she’s going to go through my brand workbook again to help re-define her message and focus.

This will enable us to plan out her next shoot to make sure we capture everything she needs to propel her business forward.

Evolving is so important and when your business doesn’t stand still, your imagery can’t be static either.

I love Sam’s regular photography sessions as she understands this perfectly and we always have so much fun capturing her latest brand gallery 🤩

These aren’t todays flowers, see stories for my beautiful tulips the twins got me 💐

I absolutely love my camera vase, a total bargain from for a fiver!

In a nod to the green trend for St Patrick’s Day, here’s the gorgeous .gem surrounded by rhododendrons before they bloom.

This has also given me an idea (I’m on a bit of a writing spree again and working on lots of blog posts today!) combined with my reel this week, all about colour and branding so watch this space for some top tips if you’re working on your own brand right now 😉

It’s so great to see my photos of ’ Big Sussex Bike Ride with all over their website and social media 🤩

I was there on behalf of last year, volunteering as a rugby mum but their photographer wasn’t able to attend so I shared my album with them.

I’m delighted that the charity has asked me back to be their photographer this June, I can’t wait!

One of the reasons I take on a limited number of branding clients a year is so I am able to donate my time and skill to various charity events like this and my headshot fundraiser.
