Walsall Creative Factory

Walsall Creative Factory Chapbooks Project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund has been quiety developing over the last few months. 6 exciting local stories from The Butts will be printed and illustrated and hand stitched into 6 x sets of booklets.
First the stories are researched by Local History enthusiast Alison Maxam 6 stories from different eras in history. Then our Writing group led by David Calcut have written first person interpretations bringing the stories to life. Next the stories are illustrated by members of our arts groups led by Ruth Radcliffe and design team. Graphic Designer Gemma Ince is working with local letter press expert Peter Cartwright to combine modern design techniques with historic letterpress and Risograph printing to produce the designs. Finally the book pages will be cropped, assembled and hand stitched together by all the participants to make 100 chapbooks of each story. Here's a teaser of the contents.......

Save The Bees

We had a lovely morning at Saturday Art Club this week drawing ducks & birds in the arboretum & then back to Creative Factory to create beautiful, vibrant water colours inspired by the work of Elizabeth Gould. ❤️

Come & join us at Creative Factory on Wednesday afternoons 2-4pm for our summer holiday sessions. Age 4 upwards £3 per child & £1 per sibling.
July 24th- Beautiful Birds- simple weaving with wool & ribbons onto card to create colourful birds.
July 31st- Paper craft dioramas - using cut paper/ card, colouring & collage materials to create magical little scenes inspired by nature.
August 7th- UFOs & Alien Friends- make fun space crafts & aliens using recycled materials & corks & all sorts!
August 14th- Brilliant Banners- experiment with hand sewing, appliqué ( fabric glue & velcro ) colouring materials & lolly pop sticks to create gorgeous, summery banners to hang on your bedroom wall!
August 21st- Shimmery Shells- create beautiful pendants & accessories with sea shells & decoupage techniques.
August 28th- Have fun making your own printing blocks & stampers to create colourful summer postcards!

We made cute little clay snails with real shells at our last Pop In Club today! 🐌🐌🐌

We had a wonderful morning at Toddlers Club today. Julia & Charlotte led their first bumblebee safari alongside Carolyn from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. We discovered lots of bumblebees and other bugs too! 🐝🐝🐝

Toddlers Club will be at the arboretum today 10-11am (ish)for our bumblebee safari!

We had a fabulous time at Toddlers Club & after school Pop In Club this week making pretend washing, putting it in our cardboard box washing machine & hanging it on the washing line. So many stylish little paper outfits too!
