Neurodivergent Lense

I'm a late diagnosed neurodivergent mom
with newly diagnosed neurodivergent 11 year old.

A lot can happen in 3 months...

The spare cucumber needs to go in the bin.

Now I just laugh...

Temporary interest, which requires a lot of organising... right before bed time.

Thanks God for a working fire alarm.
Cooking dinner and working on a sale pitch for an investment at the same time
= a fire hazard 🔥

Green Chef was designed for me.
Everyone who know me, knows how much meal times and cooking pain my soul!
As a neurodivergent mom, it's everything I ever needed.

Now it's about scheduling well!

It's not easy to find balance!

Neurodiversity at work and school 03/07/2024

How often do you think what life is like for neurodivergent people around you?

Have a think about this!

Do you ever wonder what a bus journey to school is like for young neurodivergent people?

Crowd
Noise
Different smells

How many young people turn up for school in a bad mood, because they were overstimulated on the way there?

Being neurodivergent.... we need more alone quiet time, especially following busy social situations...

15/05/2024

It's not always easy for a 11 year old navigating the world.

Neurodivergent or not

We all deal with internal battles
The outside world is not aware of.

"You look as if you have it all... "

Someone told me last year.

What you don't see behind the picture is

The daily work that goes in to making it from one day to another.

The lack of barrcode saved me from an impulsive purchase today, and had to leave a beautiful water bottle at the self check out till....

(yes, another one, because maybe a new bottle will help me increase daily water intake)....

(It probably would, for a day or two) ....

(And it looks pretty, and will fit with the other glass items)...

(Do I really need it though?).....

That was a tipping point, which when crossed could create a future feeling of regret.

Was it just luck?
The fact the bottle didn't have a barrcode sticker on?

Or was is an unconcious decision,
made at the point of chosing the bottle?

If only you could imagine what it's like inside my brain...

Visuals help me think and organise and see what I need to do next...

On the outside you will see a person and their behaviour.

If you look through a neurodivergent lens, you'll be able to see so much more.

I was wrong
And asked my son to cross the road with me in a potentially unsafe place.

He knew I was wrong
He told me I was wrong for making him do it.

Valuable lesson for my son today:

only because the people you love tell you to do something wrong, doesn't mean you have to do it!

Always chose what feels like the right thing to do.

I have observed that people have different ways of expressing their feelings and emotions.

For example:

❤️ When a little boy leaves the last piece of chocolate for his mother.

❤️ Or a friend who asks you how your doctor's appointment went.

❤️ Or a family member who brings you a souvenir from vacation.

🤔 It can also be stomping your feet on the floor

🤔 Or refusal to participate in an activity.

In the world called neurodiverse... it is not always easy to describe feelings and emotions.

So let's observe the details, behind the words which are not being said out loud.
