☎️ The village of Tyneham - Tyneham really is a ghost village. It was abandoned in 1943, during WW2, for the soldiers to train. The residents had 28 days to leave😔Today the abandoned village is open for tourists to visit.
🏰 Corfe Castle - A headless woman in white has been stalking the walls in the castle ruins since 1645. She has been known to approach petrified visitors, only to turn away and disappear! BOO!👻
🧸 The Bear Hotel - An 18th Century Inn, is said by some to have a ghost, which they call Geoffrey!😂
🥁 Phantom Army - In 1678 a ghostly phantom army is said to have marched towards Wareham from the old iron age hill fort of Flowers Barrow. I wonder if anyone has seen that again since? 💭🤔
🏰 Lulworth Castle - The ghost of The Grey Lady has been haunting the castle for centuries😱

Hellanthus Lemon Queen bought from Crocus.co.uk has put on a spectacular show. It covers our fence, has produced masses of late summer flowers and most importantly the bees love it!! 🐝🐝🐝

We took part in this year’s and it’s great to hear that more butterflies and moths were spotted than over the last four years, which is fantastic! We’ve seen so many in our garden this summer.🦋🦋🦋

On a post of Spoonbill Room, one of our guests suggested that we showed more photos to reflect its size. (She called it our yellow room💛) The bed can be twin or superking. It has a Smart TV, ample wardrobe space and tea and coffee making facilities. Perfect for a long break away!👏

Firstly though, a quick bacon buttie and Purbeck ice cream from The Salt Pig with its prime location overlooking Middle Beach, Studland Bay and Harry’s Rock with its spectacular cliff formation. A day well spent!☀️

Our Story
Spurwing Guest House is a friendly guest house within walking distance of the old historic town of Wareham nestled in the beautiful county of Dorset, South West England. Ideally located as an excellent base for walking, cycling and exploring the beautiful Isle of Purbeck and its stunning Jurassic coastline, including the magnificent Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry Rocks.
Our warm hospitality, cosy rooms and large garden with own hens and pond guarantee a relaxing time where you can unwind at the end of an action-packed day. We have a variety of rooms to suit all accommodation needs, ranging from single occupancy to a family room. We offer both ensuite and private bathroom facilities, as well as private off-road parking and a lock up garage for cyclists.
We are 5 minutes walk away from the Wareham train station, which has regular trains to London Waterloo, Bournemouth, Southampton and Weymouth, making it an ideal base to explore and sight see using public transport.
The town centre of Wareham is a 15/20 minute walk away and has a fine selection of friendly pubs and restaurants. It enjoys splendid views of the River Frome from its Quay. Delightful boat trips can be made from here to Poole Harbour.
