Am I an 'unpaid' carer? What does 'unpaid' mean?
You ARE an unpaid carer even if you receive a full time wage in your day job, and care for someone outside of your work. Being paid for your normal job does not affect whether you are an unpaid carer. Your caring role is not paid work.
You ARE an unpaid carer even if you get Carers Allowance or some form of benefit for your caring role. These do not class you as being a 'paid carer'.
You ARE an unpaid carer even if the person doesn't live with you. If you are spending time caring for a family member, friend or neighbour with a long term illness, substance misuse or frailty for anything from a few hours a week to 24/7, you are likely in a caring role.
Register as an unpaid carer today by giving us a call on 01254 387444, email us at [email protected], or fill in our online form: https://www.carerslinklancashire.co.uk/register-as-an-adult-carer

Lancashire County Council
Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board chief executive Kevin Lavery has published his latest state of the system report.
Titled “Beyond the challenge: moving into delivery”, the report follows on from last year’s “Turning challenges into opportunities” report. It describes some of the progress in Lancashire and South Cumbria over the past 12 months and explains what has been taking place to tackle the complex challenges within health and care.
The document is intended to complement the ICB’s annual report and joint forward plan, by providing a less formal narrative around the work that is taking place across the system and gives Kevin’s honest reflections of where we still need to achieve more.

We are unfortunately experiencing IT issues this morning. Our phone lines and computer systems are both down.
For all life-threatening medical emergencies please call 999.

Thankyou for your patience at this time whilst we try and resolve the issue.
The annual GP patient survey results are in and we are so pleased to say 89% of our patients rate us as 'good' overall. This is an amazing achievement and we want to thank those who took the time to feed back on your experience with us. Please have a read through the results on the images to see how we compare both locally (Lancashire & South Cumbria ICS) and nationally. Our team work really hard to provide the best possible care for our patients and we continually look to improve on the services we provide. If you have a comment or suggestion please do get in touch as we are always happy to hear your views on how we can do things better to improve our patients’ experiences.
It's ! If you are worried about your drinking or even just curious, take the Alcohol Change UK drinking quiz to see if it's likely to be affecting your health. https://orlo.uk/EOBXw
📱 NHS App Messaging Service
Did you know the messaging feature in the NHS App is a convenient and secure way to receive appointment reminders and other messages that you might usually get a different way. For example, through SMS text messages or letters.
The Benefits?
🔒 Safer and More Secure
As a patient, you can be sure that the messages you receive are genuine as they are delivered directly through the NHS App rather than from a mobile number you may not recognise.
💷 Saves Money
The NHS spends millions of pounds on SMS costs each year, whereas messages sent through the NHS App are free. This means potential savings that could be used elsewhere to improve patient care.
✅ More Reliable
Even if your phone number were to change (although we'd always encourage you to keep your contact details up to date) you will still receive messages via the NHS App.
How to manage your notification preferences
1. Log in to the NHS App
2. Select the Account icon in the top right hand corner.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Manage Notifications.
5. Follow the link to your device settings.
Turning your notifications on or off may take up to 24 hours to take effect.
Any messages that have not been read within 24 hours will automatically be sent via SMS instead.
Did you know? More than 115,000 people aged over 17 in Lancashire and South Cumbria are living with – and the percentage of children estimated to be at risk of diabetes is around 9%.
