10 years ago I painted my first primarch.

It's been quite a journey.

I'm absolutely stoked to be able to share this with you guys today!

If you've been on social media in the past few days, you're likely to have seen a new Kickstarter from . I was fortunate enough to be one of the 30+ artists selected for these series of books alongside some truly inspirational and talented painters.

The concept of the 3 volumes is to get your minis painted fast while still maintaining an excellent standard of painting! Perfect if you're a gamer but have limited time.

From the drafts of the tutorials I've seen, these guides are absolutely gorgeous and very easy to follow. You can see in these images the format of the tutorials. They are simple and sraightforward.

My tutorial, a mighty HORUS HERESY WORLD EATERS KRATOS, will be in Volume 3. This book deals with painting with standard acrylics but also using oils and enamels to take your models to the next level. The tutorials are broken down simply so they aren't daunting or overwhelming. Furthermore, much of what I have shown in this tutorial can be applied to any tank and I also go through a few tips and pointers for other Legion Kratos tanks I've painted as well!

Blood for the Blood God!

Absolutely loved working on this for a commission.

It was a really interesting challenge getting the 3d printed head to sit correctly on the plastic as well as chopping and changing the hands. Both the head and hands are 3d printed by .3d .

The haft of the axe is brass rod.

This is for a 30k player who plays both Imperial Fists and Salamnaders players a lot. Only fitting that Angron should be on a mound of dead marines in their livery.

I can't take too much credit for this conversion. I saw it on a cool YouTube video by . You can access the 3d printed parts from there through his patreon.

I hope this gives some world eaters players some inspiration for a demonic primarch ready to shed blood on the battlefield!

I know so little about Primaris or 40k so thought it would be a good opportunity to paint one of these models. I believe this is my first fully painted primaris space marine as well. I gave myself half a day to do this as between commissions I don't have a whole heap of time.

I wanted to bring some aesthetics from Heresy over to this model so I wanted just to go through a few details that may be of some use to you.

*there is no edge highlights in the armour. The model was chipped with thornwood green by P3 to help render those edges. This was done mainly with a sponge but there was some brush work involved as well.
*the oil pin wash was a mixture of paynes grey, buff titanium and burnt umber. This creates a nice dusty appearance on white armour. The streaking was also created with this mix.
*transfers were taken from various places including the 30k Deathguard transfer sheet and blood angels sheets.
*the white was army painter matt white over a grey primer.
*the red was vallejo model air red over a prehighlight of white over black. This was painted seperately from the rest of the model.
*the base is common playground bark.
*the helmet is from the FW upgrade set for Horus Heresy.

Completed Blood Angels commission for The Horus Heresy.

The brief for this was 'beauty' and 'brutality'. Its a force to fight off against a SoH force that I painted up last year. It's set at the Siege of Terra and I've used the same basing scheme using bases.

There are ceramite flashes of armour here and there dotted around the force to illustrate that the force is more interested in utility than painting armour at this point!

It was a lot of fun to do!

Here are some key products which I use on many projects from

Streaking grime - a really versatile tool that I decided to use on all of the metalics on this tank. After base coating them I gave it a wash of Streaking grime straight out of the pot. It gives a great effect especially after you dry brush it (more on this later).

Streaking rust - an absolutely fantastic product I use on all my SoH. Great for traitor players to use as a wash on metalics and around areas on the tank to demonstrate that corroded armour over month long campaigns. This effect particularly suits blue and green armour colours.

Drybrush paints - I've been banging on about these for ages! I don't know what wizardry is used in their making but they are full-proof drybrush paints. The range is insanely vast and I never ever get any chalkiness when using them. If you're going to start with any I'd recommend starting with 'light silver'. It'll change your life....Well your hobby life 😉 😄

Here's my completed SoH Kratos I started on the painting course I held last weekend!

Managed to get it completed over the weekend. The Kratos is a lot of fun to paint and I can definitely recommend painting one as part of your army. Makes a great centrepiece model!

Hey everyone!

I'm working on something super cool and outside of my wheel house for which should land tomorrow but here's a picture on my Vulkan I finished up a few weeks ago!

He is easily my favourite primarch and a delight to paint!

Some of the absolutely incredible results from this weekends course!

12 students came along to this weekends Kratos Course! It was an absolute blast and the results are superb!

Every student pushed themselves out of their comfort zone this weekend and it's only by doing this we learn.

The Kratos is an amazing canvas to practise those key painting and weathering skills on and it's now the students job to consolidate those skills. Spending your hard earned cash on classes like this with any artist is a long term investment. It gives you the spring board to develop your painting progression, especially if you feel your painting development has plateaued.

I have no doubt stuendents will share their own work over the coming days but I hope every single one feels proud of what they have accomplished because I am proud of you!

Keep an eye out for future courses. I have no doubt that due to its popularity I will run the Kratos course again.

Really excited to show this project off today! I call this 'A Song of Plasma and Fire'. A full 3k Heresy Army.

I started this many many months ago and almost completed it. I started the last model, which was Vulcan, got half way through and then gave up. All motivation gone.

However, this week I strapped my big boy pants on decided to get him done amongst commission work and am really pleased to show it today!

There are tutorials for many elements of this army on my socials and YouTube channel so make sure you sub but if you have any questions just pop them in the comments below and I'll try and get back to you!

The whole idea was to try and take some kind of plasma on most of the DA units and some kind of melta or flame weapon on most of the Salamanders units in the army. It isn't based on lore but I think it's a cool concept nonetheless.

The list consists of:

Salamanders - Covenant of Fire

Champion

2 x pyroclasts squad in rhinos with multimeltas

Vulcan with 3 man command squad and landraider

Dark Angels

Marduk Sedras

Cenobium in Landraider

2 x contemptors with gravis plasma.

Tac squad in rhino.

5 man Plasma support squad in rhino

The bases were created entirely using desert basing kit they sent me some months ago. The bases came out great and really ties the force all together!

I hope it brings you lots of ideas for your own forces!

I know sweet FA about primaris but here's something I've knocked out for the Sol challenge set by .

Apart from the sword I didn't bother using edge highlights. I've brought techniques I'd commonly use for the Horus Heresy over to this model which could be utilised to create a force fairly quickly.

1 or 2 things I need to adjust but enjoyed it the experience. Now back to the commissions!

One of the insanely frustrating things about instagram and facebook currently is the inability to 'cut through' with photos instead of reels. However I'm going to give this a whirl and keep my fingers crossed that it reaches as many discerning Heresy enthusiasts as possible!

You may be aware that I host a Horus Heresy podcast with my good friends and called Heresy Hammer. Nothing can stop the march of the Ten Thousand!

You would not believe how long each one of these has taken me! This project has been on the gonfor months! Each model was painted with a brush.

This is the last of my custodian guard squads finished though so I will be moving onto other personal projects in the near future alongside my commission work.

Only in death does duty end!

Last weekend I went to an awesome Heresy event hosted by and .

I had 5 awesome games against 5 awesome opponents. If I played you make sure to tag yourselves below as I didn't get anyone's details.

The SoH rolled out to war in a 2.5k list. Was really pleased with the performance of the list winning 4 games but I was totally destroyed by . He plays with meduson steel in his soul 😃 😀 😄 😁.

Along with an awesome event, I took best painted traitor as well which was great!

I'll do a proper rundown on th on Sunday but I thought the ticket was a bargain for what you got.
5 great games, lunch on both days, custom dice and a narrative campaign that could rival most Heresy events out there currently. All for around £40.

The lads have another event coming up so make sure you grab your tickets quick!

Hi everyone!

I'm really pleased to announce I have a course running over at in September for those of you wanting to 'up' your airbrushing, painting and weathering skills!

This course is £125 and is two full days. We will be painting ballistus and redemptor dreadnoughts in your chosen colour scheme but very much in the style of the Ballistus featured here (and on Warhammer Community).
