Lexi Illustrates

My first painting in a long time! For a module about mammals I’m working on a poster about European hamsters (Cricetus cricetus) living in fields in Bavaria and how cereal harvest affects their burrowing habits. Here’s one that may or may not make it onto the final piece.

Recently I read ‘It’s Not Just You’ by and it had a major impact on me. It made me aware of being in a state of ‘eco-paralysis’ that I want to get out of. So here is a little piece of activism art expressing my concern over the climate crisis and the government’s recent actions with respect to this. Thank you to for the book recommendation and idea of doing some art on this topic.

I’d love for this to be made into a sticker or prints. If anyone would be interested in that, or knows how to go about doing this please let me know! Or if anyone else has some climate related slogans you’d like me to illustrate please also let me know!

It’s been a while since I posted. I moved and had a lot going on. Anyway, here at last are the outcomes of Fungi February!

For anyone who like me is missing the mushroom season, I have devised this art challenge!

The challenge is to respond to the prompts on the second slide in any creative way you like throughout the month of February, to celebrate the wonder of fungi. There is no pressure to respond to every prompt or to be good at art, this is just for fun. Please use the hashtags I have written and tag me so I can share your work.

It’s been a while since I posted any actual art on here so I thought I should share what I’ve been doing. I found a copy of ‘The Green Sketching Handbook’ in a bookshop which made me curious about the practice of ‘green sketching’. Since then I’ve been trying out some of the exercises in the book and here are some of the results…

Yesterday I found a deceased moth. What else do you do with a dead moth other than draw it!?

I used a gold marker over the top but I don’t think it did the silky wings justice.
