Today marks two years since I took over the reins at SimplyFit Berkshire. The club has been running for over 18 years and I am just the latest a long line of inspirational, determined women. In the past two years, I'm delighted to say that we are bigger and stronger than ever before and our members and timetable continue to grow.
This is all thanks to you, our members, who are at the core or what we do. Both myself and Alex love teaching you every day and are so proud that you continue to show up for us and yourselves every day.

Next Saturday we begin a new three week High Intensity Interval Training (HiiT) Course. 8:30am at Barkham Village Hall on Saturdays 11th, 18th, and 25th May.
High Intensity Interval Training combines short periods of intense exercise with short periods of rest.
Benefits include:
* Increased afterburn effect - the greater your intensity, the greater the afterburn effect, the process of burning extra calories long after your workout is over.
* Helps reduce stomach fat - HIIT creates a metabolic environment that stimulates a higher proportional release of abdominal fat.
Improved Vo2 Max - doing HIIT will result in significant improvements in VO2 max, your body’s max capacity to transport and use oxygen during exercise (a great measure of physical fitness).
* Burns more total fat compared to endurance training – even when burning a fraction of the calories.
* Builds muscle while losing fat – HIIT increases lean body mass, whilst simultaneously reducing total body fat. The additional muscle then increases your resting metabolic rate so that you burn extra calories at all times of the day!
Not to mention, the intangibles of HIIT ……
* Adds variety by spicing up your exercise routine
* Creates time efficiencies – you no longer have to slave away on the treadmill for an hour or more, the same benefits or more can be accomplished in as little as 20 minutes.
* Little or no equipment necessary

What a fab night at our Quiz Night Yesterday evening! We quizzed, we ate (delish), we drank, we laughed, and we sang! Oh - and we also raised lots of money for Chance to Dance Stars CIC.
Winners for the evening were the fabulous Cali Coffee team, and Wooden Spoon winners were the equally fabulous Concordians team.

Friday morning ladies on brand with hoodies and bright leggings 🤩
On Monday I was honoured and delighted to be awarded ‘Sports Person of the Year’ at the annual Twyford Together Community Awards. I was a bit surprised and very much glad that I didn’t have to get up and do a speech! I was up against two other worthy finalists and it feels great to be recognised against such high standards
Winning this award was only possible due to so many of you lovely members nominating me and saying such kind words. It really makes me happy to think that you get as much out of our classes as I do - honestly, we do have such a lot of fun!
If you’d have told a rather inactive 15 year old me that at the age of 43 I would be even in the running for a sports award I would have thought that you would have been joking - here’s to finding your groove a bit later in life.
A big thank you to Twyford Together for a lovely evening, I hope to be back next year 😜
