What is CPD?
CPD is a process which all health care professionals undertake in order to maintain and develop their skills, knowledge and competence in order to practice effectively and safely.
Last Saturday I undertook three hours with the in their although I am not qualified getting use to finding time to complete these hours will help me massively when I do.
The three hours I completed were -
- Outpatient Respiratory Assessment
- Key Principles in the Community
- Blood Tests for MSK physios and FCP’s
These webinars are all going to be relevant going into my second year and helped me recap over key aspects whilst expanding my knowledge.
Concussion within Sport 💪🏽
- working pitch side, concussion is something I have seen very often.
- Concussion is normally short lived ~ lasting 7-10 days
- Around 7 in 10 of those playing contact sports suffer concussion at some point within their career
- 7 in 10 people make a full recovery back to sport post concussion
Today I finally graduated with a BSc in Rehabilitation and Injury Management 💃🤍
Here are some of the most common injuries which occur within Rugby Union in the United Kingdom. 🏉
According to World Rugby data, around 1,200 players sustained severe head injuries every year, with 2/3 of these being concussion, with 1/2 of these being forwards. 🤕
The second most common being muscle tears, from a grade one to a grade four. Again, according to World Rugby over 1/2 of these are within the lower limb. 🦵
The third most common, with approximately 947 player in 2018 is a shoulder dislocation. 💪🏽
What can we do to prevent this?
- stretches, both before and after training
- Practice technique for tackling and scrummaging
- Become aware of the signs and symptoms of concussion (🛑post coming soon🛑)

I absolutely love being pitch side for rugby🏉❤️
Being able to put my knowledge in to physical practice has really helped me these last few months.
Especially when the majority of my degree was online 💻
✨✨Tape in sports has many uses, such as increasing blood flow, providing support and/or immobilisation. It can also increase awareness of the area, increase mobility and reduce pain. Although the evidence regarding tape is varied. 😀💪🏽
✨✨It is important to consider your knowledge about tape and it’s used as well as considering any allergies prior to applying tape at home. 🏡😀

So after a relaxed few weeks, I am getting ready to embark on my next adventure at Glyndwr University on their BSc in Physiotherapy, due to start in September. 🤓
Therefore over these next few weeks I will be reading and getting up to date with the latest research. 📔📚
In the meantime, I will be working closely alongside a local rugby club as part of there medical team working to rehabilitate players after injury and form plans to prevent injury, which will coincide the degree in a practical way. 🏉

⭐️⭐️ PEACE & LOVE ⭐️⭐️
PEACE & LOVE underscores the importance of educating patients and addressing psychosocial factors to enhance recovery. In addition, while anti-inflammatories show benefits on pain and function, our acronyms flag their potentially harmful effects on optimal tissue repair. 💪🏽🩹

✅ concussion training
This course enabled me to become more familiar with ‘recognise and remove’ set out by the RU. Recognise the symptoms of concussion and permanently remove a player displaying any of those symptoms.
First aid for sports and exercise ✅
