Everybody at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel is very sad to inform you that Michael Fawcett died suddenly at home, on Friday 31st May 2024 at the age of 76.

Mike had been Head Porter at Middlethorpe Hall & Spa for over 17 years, joining us after a long career, first in the Police Force and then in hospitality in hotels in York. A well-regarded, conscientious and devoted Concierge, Mike was much appreciated by our guests for his sense of service and care. He took great pride in his duties, and was always ready to go ‘above-and-beyond’ our guests expectations. Regular guests would ask for him on arrival, and new ones would praise him on guests’ reviews after their visit.

Mike was a much valued colleague, a friend to all, always helpful and smiling, ready to give a hand and support other departments. We will also remember him for his unique sense of humour and his passion for horse racing.

Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

I know that each member of the team here at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel will want to continue his legacy and uphold the high standards of hospitality for which he was known, and will be long remembered

Our National Trust gardens have been extensively restored and replanted since the property was acquired in 1980.
