From 2015:
Creating art is one thing: curating it in a white cube art gallery is another. Working in consultation with York contemporary gallery According to McGee, the learners curated a series of their posters to complement the beautiful Giclée posters designed by Choir of Vision, culled from tweets from members of the public on York’s UNESCO status as .
Some love it, some hate it: either way, the posters were in gallant company with these letterpress posters. When it came for the job of imbuing all tweets and slogans with a Jedi-esque digital power, we worked with light installation artist Nick Walters.
According to McGee became for one week a refulgent, futuristic spaceship, all the while building its glorious swagger on slogans written by York’s most vulnerable citizens.
Reader, a good time was had by all.

We always love working at Spearehead Hall. Our team is made up of professional artists and teenage advocates, themselves previously beneficiaries of our Art Camp sessions. We sat with parents and participants and chronicled what art skills the young people wanted to learn. We then contextualised that with aspects of the surrounding Strensall countryside: there’s a lot of wildlife here, there’s an active sporting life and a social scene that comes with it; there’s a lot of history here. We interfused these aspects in art that engaged and challenged all participants, leading to exhibitions around the cafe.

We’ve had a cracking summer so far, and we ain’t over yet.
Onwards!
We’re looking at ‘Heroes.’
Alex is a huge fan. He aspires to everything that Rob Burrow stood for and has created this work of art with ‘Soul of the Rhino.’
Alec gives a bit of love
Huge thanks to great sportsmen and Blueberry Academy.
York's Art Camp for young artists will ride again this summer for two weeks.
These weeks will be Monday 29th July, to Friday 2nd August, and Monday 5th August to Friday 9th August.
The location will be English Martyrs Church Hall, 10am to 3pm.
To book:
https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/york-eco-art
All the young artists will need are clothes suitable for getting creative and a packed lunch. If you book through our campaign, 'York Eco-Art', you are eligble for a free day, and your vouchers will be £5 cheaper per day.
Simply select 'Art Camp 2 Day' or 'Art Camp 4 Day' and add your details. This will go a long way in supporting our current project to get the young people of York creating art that celebrates environmental awareness.
Please contact me directly if you want to go with either one day of Art Camp or 5 days: these aren't included as vouchers in the campaign, but we can still go through the campaign to purchase what you want.
Many thanks, hope to talk soon, Greg McGee, [email protected]

I heard for the first time today Yungblud's cover of KISS' seminal disco colossus, 'I Was Made For Lovin' You'.
It's great but I just HAVE to point out our mate, artist and activist, Alex Utley was there with his 2021 'Rock Hope'.
That's Alex there in the middle of the artwork, flanked by Yungblud and KISS's Paul Stanley and a few other rock hepcats.
Life imitates Art! Good on ya, Alex. Keep on rockin'. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
