Despite the success and industry recognition we've been fortunate to achieve together, life's unpredictable turns have led us to a point of change. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our beloved The Vices and Allium. As dedicated founders and owners, this decision comes as a result of significant changes in our personal circumstances.

We want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support, and we cherish the memories created within these walls. While this chapter may be closing, the spirit of excellence and passion will continue to inspire us, and our lived experiences will forever remain a part of our shared journey.

Our last service at Allium will be Saturday 30th of September, we hope to see you all again soon!

The looming building that is now The Vices York, was once a Police Station. A stern, red brick building, with just enough lighting to guide your entrance. ⁠

But things have changed and this traditional façade now masks something very different. Venture inside to find three luxurious suites with spa-like bathrooms, sophisticated interior design with strong Italian influence that hasn't been seen in the North of England, an opulent wine library and restaurant. ⁠

"a voice in D'arc" - This piece in The Art of Queening collection by Shoni is the ultimate power suit and modern day equivalent of a suit of armour. Metallic riveted panels, a chainmaille shirt and tie and thigh high chrome stiletto boots, are inspired by Joan of Arc and fit perfectly into the masculine setting of the Third Suite.⁠

And alongside it, the Doublet Entendre; a twist on feminine meets masculine.

The Art of Queening collection by Shoni i pushed boundaries on the runway.⁠

The standing piece was inspired by the sexual revolution. Pleasure, arousal and desire were becoming socially accepted. This garment is unashamedly bold and unmistakably feminine.⁠
⁠
And strewn across the bed in the Second Suite, we see "value of Choice"; a thought provoking piece that explores how a modern day woman’s value lies in her ability to choose. The piece reinforces the fact that the choice to have an empty womb does not devalue her. Guests to our event were invited to not only view the piece, but open the hinged stomach to reveal a bejewelled uterus.⁠

As official sponsors of , we were proud to host the final event of the week right here in The Vices York when designer and maker Shoni brought her debut collection, The Art of Queening into the hotel. ⁠
⁠
The Art of Queening blew audiences away on the runway, but now we welcomed them to get up close and personal with each piece. Inspired by Queens of history and playing with the stereotypes often placed against women, Shoni's pieces started conversations and challenged opinions. ⁠
⁠
Here, we see "a bit of Ruff" standing proudly in the First Suite, whilst "all Eyes on Me" lay across the bed.

Raw grapes on the vine represent the first step in the wine making process, whilst the fermentation process is brought to life with a delicious twist on the grapes. You'll enjoy grape sorbet with roasted yeast crumb and fermented cherry powder to represent the freezing of the neck and extraction of the yeast.

And finally, Daniel will pour you a glass of Marcalberto, Metodo Classico, to symbolise the complete wine-making process.⁠

The building that houses The Vices York, was once a Victoria Police Station. In fact, step through the corridors and you'll see some of the original fixtures and fittings. ⁠

There's something very special about entering this corridor and seeing the original brickwork and arches, mirrored against the modern plastering and cut out windows. A beautiful juxtaposition of heritage and evolution. ⁠
