Calling DMPs and other creative arts therapists... The Forensic Arts Therapies Advisory Group has issued a call out for chapter abstracts for two different books.

One book is titled 'Art Therapy, Intersectionality and Sexual Harm' and invites 500 word abstracts by 31st January.

The second book is exploring arts psychotherapies with women in the criminal justice system, and invites a 350 word abstract by 5th February.

A huge congratulations goes to one of our members, Katy Dunne, who won a Norfolk Arts Award for her dance for wellbeing group, Breathe Dance. We asked Katy more about her group, and how she felt about her award:

'I was delighted to be awarded a Norfolk Arts Award for my dance for wellbeing group Breathe dance.'

'Breathe is a community dance group that is open to any adults and it combines my work as a community dance artist and dance movement psychotherapist. Classes involve movement meditations, contemporary dance sequences as well as creative and improvised movements, all with the aim of supporting participants to express themselves and connect with each other in a safe and supportive environment.'

There are so many events and workshops for you as a Dance and Movement Psychotherapist. ADMP runs CPD modules on topics such as trauma and loss, working with refugees and contemporary approaches to psychotherapy. These modules are mandatory for those pursuing full clinical membership of UKCP, but they are open to all who want to develop their learning and knowledge in these important areas. We also circulate interesting events and workshops to our members each month through our bulletin, and on the members pages of our website. Upcoming events include training on the BodyMind Approach, Somatic Body Mapping, free book launches and open circles.
