Rendezvous in Old Hong Kong│ Wai Wai Solo Exhibition

We want to thank everyone who attended our opening reception and the launching of her new book "Rendezvous in Old Hong Kong: A Visual Journey through the City’s Historic Neighbourhoods".

Through a collection of stunning illustrations, Wai Wai shares her intimate perspectives on the city she calls home. Exploring the beloved communities of Yau Ma Tei, Causeway Bay, and Tsuen Wan, the artist invites visitors to discover the charms and complexities of Hong Kong, both as a long-time resident and a contemporary explorer.

Cafe au lait 2023 - Kelly Yeung

This painting appears to depict the interior of a cosy cafe, with several whimsical elements that capture the essence of the exhibition's theme "Enchantée".

The lighting in the space is warm and inviting, with a red pendant lamp hanging overhead and a neon "Cafe au lait" sign drawing the eye. This attention to detail and use of distinctive French cafe signage helps to transport the viewer to the charming streets of France that the exhibition describes.

This painting captures a tranquil scene at Wu Kai Sha Pier. The landscape is bathed in a soft, hazy light, creating an ethereal and dreamlike atmosphere. The calm waters of the bay reflect the colours of the sky, blending seamlessly with the distant mountains on the horizon.
In the foreground, a cat sits on a rocky outcrop, gazing out over the expansive view. This small figure adds a sense of contemplation and solitude to the scene, inviting the viewer to pause and take in the peaceful surroundings.

On June 15th, the gallery will host a special artist-sharing session from 3-5 pm for the "Enchantée" exhibition, featuring the works of Hong Kong artists Kelly Yeung and Haley Chui.

The session will provide an intimate and engaging opportunity for the audience to connect directly with the artists and gain deeper insights into their creative process and inspirations.

Inspired by their love for France and Hong Kong, these two remarkable artists present a unique fusion of landscapes and the essence of these iconic locations. Through their brushstrokes, they capture the essence and allure of these places, intertwining them with elements that pay homage to the rich cultural heritage of both France and Hong Kong.
