[Call for Curator] 2024/25 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB2024)

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation (HKIABF), The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP), and Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), set a theme –
“Integrating Dual Cultural Landscape x A.I.” and hereby invite interested curator/curatorial groups to submit a curatorial proposal by way of application for the “2024/25 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture” (2024/25香港深圳城市＼建築雙城雙年展) to be held in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, all subject to the availability of funding.

The Press Conference of Hong Kong Exhibition in The 15th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (VB2016) was successfully held in Comix Home Base, Wanchai yesterday(28 Apr 2016).

By drawing reference to the classic collection of Chinese military tactics in ‘the Thirty-Six Stratagems’, the VB2016 Curatorial team led by Mr. Stanley Siu showcases in the Hong Kong Exhibition how our young architects and artists formulate strategies and tactics in the reflection of lifestyles in the metropolis. More than 50 guests, members, collaborators and media reporters attended the Press Conference.

Today UABB Curators and Organisers from Hong Kong and Shenzhen met at Futian, Shenzhen to discuss ways to collaborate on the forthcoming 2015 Bi-City Biennale.

【Exhibitor Workshop】Selected potential exhibitors were invited to attend a workshop to share their visions to the UABBHK2015 curatorial theme 'VISIONS 2050 - Lifestyle and the City' on 1 August 2015 (Saturday).

Curators are in the process of finalising the list of exhibitors for UABBHK2015, if you have submitted your proposal, you will hear from the team soon.

【Special Meeting】HKIA Council and UABB Academic Committee had had a wonderful discussion with UABB 2015 Curatorial Team on 31 July 2015. The Curatorial Team was composed of Chief Curator Professor Christine Hawley, Ms. Sarah Lee, Mr. Yutaka Yano, Mr. Roger Wu and Mr. Paolo Zaide.

The Opening Ceremony of UABBHK2015 is scheduled for 11 December 2015 at Kowloon Park. The Hong Kong exhibition will last for around 3 months until 28 February 2016 in Kowloon Park and Heritage Discovery Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. Please stay tuned for more details.

"The 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism Architecture (UABB) has launched an open call for exhibitors. Co-organized by Shenzhen and Hong Kong, UABB is the only biennial exhibition in the world that is based exclusively on the themes of urbanism and urbanization. This year’s edition, which will run from December 2015 to February 2016, will be based around the themes “Re-Living the City” and “Visions 2050 – Lifestyle & The City.” All those who are interested in participating as an exhibitor should submit their proposals to the organizers of the Shenzhen curatorial team (here) and Hong Kong curatorial team (here) before June 30, 2015. 【媒體報導】號外－在國際與本土之間　西九文化區的未來
（轉載）３月１５日，威尼斯建築隻年展的香港館在九龍公園文物探知館展出，７位來自建築與媒體界人士借此機會，展出一場題為「西西九－香港文化特區再出發」的討論，思考西九如何在與國際接軌的同時，回應香港的本土需要，實現「自己藝術自己搞」。

座談會參與者包括馮永基，劉達斌，香港建築師學會前會長馮宜萱，策展人葉長安、符展成和劉珩，台灣作家、《號外》主編張鐵志。

今日星島。

觀賞者可在建築模型旁邊坐下，通過電影以直觀手法和人文角度，感受人與建築的關係，反思建築在人文生活中扮演的角色。

在鐵路交通越來越暢達，各地邊界越來越糢糊的情況下，又會否產生新的矛盾？建築師和規劃者正為社會解決矛盾，抑或製造新的爭端？建築只是單純提供有瓦遮頭，抑或能真正改善生活？

究竟，建築又是為誰而建？是為人的生活而建，抑或只是純屬商品？
