Epilepsy is more prevalent than what the public perceived. In Hong Kong, It is estimated that 1 in 20 people have had epileptic seizures in their lifetime. Assuming 1 in 200 to 500 people suffer from sustained seizures, the number of epileptic patients in Hong Kong totals 30,000 to 60,000. Is a number that we need to pay attention to. •

I was delighted to be interviewed by media this morning in relation to my profession. It was great sharing some of the common clinical cases in neurosurgery and some of the real cases to be shared among public. 今天有幸被邀請到一個健康講座。給外界了解腦神經內外科的分別。有很多人對這門專科的認識不深，我也簡單地解釋了神經外科服務的項目. 🧠👨🏻‍⚕️

凡於在神經內科透過藥物等內科療法無法解除或緩解症狀，可能要透過手術才能解決的項目，都是神經外科的服務項目，例如骨刺、椎管狹窄等神經壓迫症狀，如果藉由藥物及復健的方式無法改變神經及肌肉疼痛，或是肢體無力症狀，可能必須開刀處理時，就要請神經外科，進行頸、胸、腰椎的椎板或內側關節面切除的減壓手術，或是骨融合手術，以及脊椎固定器治療。🚨🏥

常見的神經外科治療有：巴金森氏症、出血性腦中風嚴重梗塞或者是腦血管破裂出血、腦部的良性或惡性腫瘤、半邊顏面神經麻痺、痙攣以及有三叉神經痛者，都可以透過顯微手術的方式進行治療。

希望透過今次的講座令大家對腦神經外科有了進一步的了解。能夠在求診時究竟該掛神經內科或是神經外科呢？具備求診的相關知識，就能找對醫生看對科了。📚

It was an honour to be invited to a health talk today to let the public know the general differentiation between neurology and neurosurgery. I have briefly talked about the most commonly seen conditions which requires surgical procedures by a neurosurgeon. As well as common diagnostic procedures involved.
