Drama Club
Drama Club will take place in the library every Thursday from 1:10pm - 1:40pm for students from all year groups.

Open Evening Invitation
We are delighted to invite prospective students and parents to our Open Evening which will be held on the evening of Thursday 3rd of October.
Our outdoor facilities are available to visit from 5:30pm to 6:30pm including a visit to our sensory garden, astro pitch and tennis courts. Tours of the indoor facilities commence from 6:00pm with the Principals address at 7:30pm

TY Gardening and Sustainability
We are delighted to see that our Green Schools Committee has had their first meeting already this year. It is a positive start to the year having obtained our Water Flag late last year. Our organic onions will be used by the 3rd year Home Economics class on Monday - burgers with organic onions!
Our Shed has been prepared and is now ready to go for our TY Gardening class for the 2024 2025 school year. Thank you to Ms Lernihan and her team of TY students for looking after our wonderful Sensory Grden. Go nÉirí agus Tús maith leath na hoibre.
Gaelic Football training
Gaelic Football training begins on Monday 16th September from 3:50pm - 4:50pm. Weather permitting, training will take place on the astro pitch, training will take place in the gym on wet days.
Students from all year groups are welcome to join. Experienced and first time players are all encouraged to come along and join in the training sessions. Bring appropriate clothes, boots, a gumshield and a bottle of water.

Leaving Cert Graduation 2024
We enjoyed a wonderful morning of celebration with our 6th year students and their families last week, as we marked the end of their journey in St Aloysius School and the beginnings of their next steps in education, and in life. We will miss you all very much as you embark on your new adventures. Well done to an incredible group of students and best of luck in your leaving certificate exams!

St. Als Got Talent Winners!
Congratulations to our 1st place winner Iyenoma, 2nd place winner Emilija and 3rd place winner Aoibhe! Well done to all of our entrants, the talent show really showed the variety of talent in our school community. We are very proud of the bravery and skills our students have! A big thank you to all involved in creating a week full of entertainment with a special thanks to Ms Deasy and the TY Drama class!

Transition Year Graduation
Transition Year students presented to staff and parents on some of the amazing opportunities they made the most of this year. Well done to a group that fully embraced the year and all it had to offer. Certificates of achievement from the year were presented to each student before retiring for tea, coffee, cake and chats with family and staff. Well done to all of our TY students and a huge thank you to Ms Whalley, Ms Dempsey and Class Teachers Ms K ODonovan, Ms Foley and Ms A. OCallaghan for all their support throughout the year.
Presentation of funds raised
The 3rd yr CSPE class presented Ms Hourigan with monies raised for a school she is volunteering at during the summer in Tanzania. We wish her the best and were delighted to put our sustainable goals into action.
Green Flag
Our Green Team! Delighted to receive our 2nd flag after 2 years of work. It was a huge effort from the whole school community and we thank everyone for their cooperation- especially with turning off the taps! Yesterday our team and Ms Mills were presented with our flag by An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland at the Radison Hotel, Little Island. Well done to everyone who worked so hard to get us here! Edel House
Well done, and thank you to our 1st year students and their year head, Ms. Coen, for their generous donations that were delivered to Edel House this morning. Edel House provides emergency accommodation for women and children who are homeless.
St Als Got Talent
Great talent on display again today at lunchtime as the last acts were chosen for Thursdays grand finals of St Als Got Talent Competition. Well done to everyone who entered and to our TY drama students who have been coordinating everything behind the scenes!
5th year trip to buffalo farm
5th year LCVP, Business and Home Economics students enjoyed a day at Macroom Buffalo Farm today where they had the opportunity to see how buffalo cheese makes it way from farm to table. The day involved a tour of the family run farm along with exploring the cheese making process and some tasting of the final product. A great exploration of agrifood business in action! Thanks to Ms. McGee & Ms. Carey for organising the tour.
Second Year School Tour
Second years enjoyed a day out in Kerry before exam season begins. They successfully dodged the worst of the rain and took in the views around Muckross House and Torc Waterfall. As the sun emerged they finished their day with some retail therapy in Killarney Outlet Centre. Thanks to their Year Head, Ms. O’Mahony, for organising such a lovely day for the group.
Darkness Into Light
Well done, and thank you to all our students, staff and family members who joined us on our Darkness Into Light walk this morning helping to raise awareness and vital funds for Pieta House. History Teachers Association quiz winners
Third years students Julia, Saoirse and Maeve placed joint third in Cork History Teachers Association annual Junior Cycle Quiz last night. They each won an Easons book voucher following very close scores at the end of a great evening. Thanks to Ms Walsh for her support with the team.
Careers Portal Competition Award recipients
Well done to TY students Elisa and Ananya, who were awarded 2nd Place and Commended in the TY category of the Careers Skills Competition run by the Careers Portal. The competition had over 1500 entries from across the country, making their wins even more amazing! It was a pleasure to accompany Elisa and Ananya, along with family members, to the awards ceremony held in the Department of Education. Well done on your achievements!
