Michael McGrath TD (Current European Commissioner and Former Minister for Finance) visited Cork ARC Cancer Support House on Monday 24th of June!
The visit was arranged in conjunction with the recently held Network of Community Cancer Support Centers (The network comprises 26 Cancer Support houses in Ireland providing free services to people with a Cancer diagnosis and their families) briefing in Leinster House for members of the Oireachtas when over 50 members turned up to hear our presentation.
After a brief tour of the house, Mr. McGrath heard a very informative presentation on services provided from Olivia Grace (Director of Services), Gráinne Prendergast (Manager of Cork ARC Bantry House) & Katrina Falvey (Survivorship Co-Ordinator). The ask from the Network of Cancer Support Houses for increased funding for 2025 and for the Government to commit to Multi-annual was then presented to Mr. McGrath by Michael Leogue (Interim General Manager).
We were delighted to welcome Denise from Crosshaven Tennis Club to the house today, to present us with a cheque for €2,000 following their recent fundraising event at their new club facilities.
Thanks to everyone in the club for their support and fundraising efforts, and to their wider community for highlighting the event locally and supporting the raffle.
We wish you all the best of luck in your new facilities.
From all of us in Cork ARC

This week we presented Frances Field with a certificate of thanks for reaching a milestone of over €30,000 raised for Cork ARC Cancer Support House since 2018.
Frances is a very special volunteer. Each year she organises flags days for us in different areas around . Her dedication to Cork ARC is contagious and admirable. She knows how important our services are to people who need them.
We always need volunteers to support her collection days so reach out to us if you and your colleagues would like to give a few hours this year to help with these collections.
Today is World Cancer Day and we want to acknowledge and stand in solidarity with those who are fighting cancer, surviving cancer and those we've lost to cancer.
We know that every single one of us has the ability to make a difference, large or small, and that together we can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer.
At Cork ARC we are playing our part to , working to ensure everyone has access to free cancer support services. We're here for those who need us and we thank all our donors for supporting our services each year.
We listen to the needs of those we are supporting and offer a wide range of evidence based, cancer support services to meet those needs.
Last year we provided over 10,000 support services to people in Cork City and West Cork and this year we expect this number to grow.
If you or a loved one needs us, then reach out to find out more about these free support services and how we can help you.
Sometimes you just need to take that first step and we are here to help with the rest,
A huge thanks to all those involved in the Macra Tractor Run. They raised €2,100 for us, and these funds will be directly supporting the services in our house in Bantry.
We offer all the same services from our location in Bantry so those in West Cork who can't travel to the city can still receive free cancer support for them and for their loved ones.
We rely heavily on the people of West Cork to help us fund these services and so we are very grateful to groups like this for their fundraising efforts.
Don't miss the Mad Hatters Tea Party in The Glasshouse , being held in aid of our services on Thursday 14th March from 4-6pm.
There'll be afternoon tea, bubbly and and a showcase of some of the finest hats and headpieces by Celestine McCoy of .kinsale. A huge thank you to Rhona of for organising this unique event.
Click the link below to purcahse tickets or you can find them in our shop on the website. Don't miss out on this fun way to show your
support 💜
