Eleanor Malone

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our colleague and friend, Eleanor Malone. RIP.

Eleanor had a life long involvement with the Cork Feis, as a performer, teacher and for the last 40 years, member of the Feis Advisory Board. Both her parents were involved in the background as well and her father, John Malone, was the Press Officer for many years.

It was always a joy to meet with Eleanor and to discuss Feis matters. She had ideas to share and was enthusiastic about the opportunities the Feis afforded all participants. Even since her retirement she was happy to serve and only a few months ago we discussed other roles that she fulfil.

Many things have been written about Eleanor in the last few days, but the one quality that stands out is that she was a lady in every sense of the word.

Her sound council and wise advice will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

Photos from Feis Maitiu Corcaigh's post 06/05/2024

Our second open day for the return of outstanding Trophies will be on Wednesday, 8th May from 3:30 to 5:30pm at the Father Mathew Hall. Harry and Mai are busy checking returns. As you can see the ribbons are important for classification and the tags for easy identification. So please keep them safe and return with your cleaned trophy.

If we sent you notification that your Trophy has been engraved, you can call to see it on Wednesday as well.

25/03/2024

As we come to the end of Feis Maitiú, 2024, it is important to thank all who have played a part in the success of this year’s Festival. First of all, thank you to ALL the performers and their families for supporting our event. You should be so proud of what you have achieved. Thanks to the teachers for training the performers so well and for making it such a wonderful Feis.

Thanks also to our great team of accompanists and our band of adjudicators.

A special and particular thank you to the stewards who gave so freely of their time and efforts which allowed the Feis to take place. Thank you also to our many TY students who brought a new dynamic and energy to the Father Mathew Hall.

Finally, thank you to the members of the Advisory Board, the Executive and especially our Finance Officer who worked so hard to ensure that the Feis could go ahead as planned.

I hope you all take away many happy memories of some special occasions and that you will look back on the 2024 Feis with joy and pride.
Though the Father Mathew Hall falls silent for the holiday period, please know that we are looking to 2025 with new hope and vigor. We still need a lot more help in many areas and I do hope that this will happen over the next few months. So please, please think how you can further support the Feis with your time and especially with your particular unique skills.

I wish everyone a very happy and restful holiday period.

Tim.
