These classes meet once or twice a week and are designed to build interest in dancing, strengthen muscles, introduce a basic vocabulary and develop sensibility of the artistic and performance qualities that make up dance. Teachers use a hands on approach that is vital to teaching young dancers as they develop their skills at their own pace within the group – students are introduced to the examinations of the Royal Academy of Dance London from age 7. Students begin pointe work at the recommendation of the principal regardless of level or age, students will only go on pointe if they are able to do so safely without risking injury. The ability to begin pointe work is determined by the principal and does not happen at a certain age. Level advancement is based on many factors including students strength,commitment,attendance,maturity. Mastery of materials and artistic development as assessed by the principal. Testimonials

Two years ago, while on holiday, we asked around to find a dance studio for our daughter, a pre-professional classical ballerina, where she could stay in shape during our stay. Mary Gibson’s name was always mentioned. We were so impressed with Mary Gibson’s instruction that we have now, two years later, brought three pre-professional dancers, our son and daughter and their friend, for a program of summer classes. Our dancers love Mary’s rigorous program and that of her special guest teachers. This is of course in keeping with Mary’s impressive credentials which includes certification for dance instruction from the Royal Dance Academy of London. We plan to return in the Fall to have our dancers participate in Mary’s Ballet Theatre Ireland College of Dance upcoming production of Coppelia. A great trans-Atlantic alliance has been formed. Anna

I just wanted to message you to let you know I’m just finishing my Masters in Dance at Roehampton uni , and it’s all thanks to you. I started ballet classes when I was 5 and I hated it. Then I started with you when I was 8 and everything changed. I would literally count the days down until 2.30 Saturday in Pine Street. My family loved coming to the Everyman to see the show and they especially loved how happy your ballet classes made me. So you changed all our lives for the better. I only love dancing more every day and my work as a dancer makes me happy and fulfilled. It’s thanks to you- myself and my family will forever be grateful ! ###
