Why have we set these events up?
It's easy: to spread the word and promote valuable projects. There are amazing outdoor based therapeutic programs happening all around Ireland. Each with their own unique approach and style. The impacts of such programs are getting more recognized and we hope to learn from each other while also get the word out for people who could benefit from such programs.

Outdoor Therapeutic Activity Providers Network An interactive, day long conference taking place at the ATU Mayo Campus in Castlebar.It will bring together practitioners, researchers, funders, policy makers and academics within the field of adventure therapy and outdoor education.

Giving a talk this evening on the wonderful transatlantic sail we did in January. Covering all the boaty logistics aswell as the human side.

It was an amazing 3 weeks of re-charge. Cut off from technology and Internet. Consistant routine, sense of purpose everybday, a common shared goal amongst the crew, time for reflection, sunshine, physical work out, mindfulness, nature imemrsion, going with the flow of the elements and lots of lessons! ... all the good ingredients for some solid connection to self, others and nature 🙏

SIW is offering a new initiative: Voyages for Adolescents from a variety of backgrounds ⛵️

This is an open invite to teens who would be interested in taking part in a mini-voyage.

2nd week of Easter holidays.
Ages 15-18 years.
Kinsale start and end location

Focus of the voyage:
•Team work
•Positive communication
•Building resilience & confidence
•Leadership & decision making
•Goal setting
•Dealing with a dynamic environment
•Fun, enjoyment, fostering motivation

The program will be facilitated by 2 to 3 Sailing into Wellness staff. A safe and positive environment will be co-created with the whole group to allow for personal and social development oppertunities. Individual needs are considered and catered for while their strengths and abilities are identified and promoted.

A 4 day voyage. Landing in different locations everyday. Sailing, cooking, navigating, adventuring altogether ....

What a week!

The 9th International Adventure Therapy Conference & 3rd Gathering of Adventure Therapy Europe .... wonderful people, amazing projects, inspiring research and moving discussions.

Been trying to make one of these for years. Gratful to finally give myself the time 🙌

Delighted also to present my research on 'The Use of Outdoor Based Therapies in Ireland'. A project done under my masters in Counselling and Psychotherapty, but a passion a long time in the making.

Felt very with my tribe this week in the amazing setting of Norway's nature. Thanks everyone and everything for the inspiration to keep pursuing this work and research in the area.... hopeful that such efforts can make a difference for anyone who could benefit from this type of support, looking to work in this area, or just curious!

What an amazing week of all sharing their knowledge and experience 🙏
