Since establishment The Urban Co-op continues to champion organic and local produce and support local suppliers. It is creating community wealth rather than shareholder wealth, by challenging traditional business models, ownership and control. Our Mission

Our Story
The Urban Co-op is Limerick’s first co-operative grocery store to be owned, controlled and operated by the community. Our aim is to sell wholesome food at affordable prices, providing maximum transparency in the process. We support local farmers, growers, producers and start-ups. We are proud of our relationship with our suppliers, and the quality of their produce. We prioritise sourcing food from organic, sustainable, ethical farming practices and we support local, artisan producers.
We follow the seven co-operative principles, with community and education being of special importance. Our community, our membership, comprises the consumers who shop in the store, the staff and volunteers who work there, and the farmers, bakers, producers and suppliers who feed us. Membership is open to all. We are growing all the time, and we encourage you to join us in building a great community project for a sustainable Limerick, and of course - a great place to shop!
